No, I'm sure if you drop Sorokin, the team with the #1 WW will be instantly using it. I'd explore a trade way before dropping him.
My goalie situation is pretty bad. I basically have Sorokin then a bunch of cheap B goalies; Quick, Ersson and Wallstadt (who is now available due to Gustvsson's injury)
We are playing head to head stats. Below are the goalie categories and their weight.
Win = 1 point
SV % = 1 point
GAA = 0.5 point
SHO = 0.5 point
With Sorokin rising to $8.25m, is he worth dropping for any of the following available goalies or just stream every week? Or do the Islanders and Sorokin turn it around and ride it out for the year? Sorokin at $4m isn't burning a hole in my squad, but would prefer to use that elsewhere if he's to be dropped.
Trading is hard to come by in this league since its not very deep...and everyone knows Sorokin's price tag next year.

I really don't see how you can drop Sorokin no matter how bad it's been in the short term. There HAS to be someone who will be willing to engage in a trade here. Secondly, and I know it's a bit off topic but is that actually your D in a 10 team league??
I recommend to keep him especially with the other choices you listed but if you are really about to drop him, I am sure you will receive offers if you put him on trade block, even in a 10 team league.

He's been on the trade block for 2 months now... haha. This league might be a bust...so maybe its best to just hold on and try to win this year and see where this league is at for the next.

have you engaged with teams directly with some balanced proposals yet? I find in lots of leagues I am in guys won't reach out because they assume the ask will be too high, or they themselves won't do the work to see that a match can be made. for instance maybe you can add a high quality forward to him and trade with a team that has an abundance of goalies and defenseman.
I saw on twitter in a post by Corey Sznajder (hockey data guy) where one team's private proprietary metrics (take that for what it is worth) have the Islanders as the worst defense in the league but Sorokin as the best goalie in the league. It does seem that team decision has been made to open things up and hope that Sorokin and Varmalov can save them a la Lundqvist and Luongo's heyday. Sorokin is still an elite talent, but his numbers might be tempered due to the Islanders choosing not to give him as much defensive help as in the past.
Can't cut an elite goalie, even if the production hasn't been elite. Such is the wave of goalies in fantasy hockey.
While is it unexpected for Sorokin to be doing as poorly as he is, what he showed prior to this season indicates this is likely more a bump in the road versus an ongoing concern. It would not be in your best interest to drop him.

I would keep him too.
The good news about goalies nowadays is: you can draft Daccord, Ingram and Jones in the last 3 rounds and win your pool.
The bad news is: it's not easy to identify the Daccords of each season.
Sorokin is $8.25m next season based on our cats he's not worth the hold...I can ride it out this season but nobody has a goalie over $7 in this league. Vas is FA for what it's worth.
so if you convinced already that this is right thing to do, why bother to create this thread?

If Roy is in love with his former Avalanche protege Varlamov, it could be bad news for Sorokin owners
Vas is a FA? Seems like a tight cap league. Sorokin might be expendable if that's the case. I would have a hard time getting rid of a guy with that talent, but in those settings and those guys available, I don't think he's a guy you must hold at all costs. I'd do what you have to do - you know your settings and free agent market better than us. Worth asking: why is Vasilevskiy a FA? Is it purely cap hit or are there other relevant settings?
