It might have sounded silly before the season started, does it still?

    Still silly. Back away slowly.

Ovechkin is rounding a corner it seems with 6 points in his last 5, and I'm curious to see what happens when Pacioretty finds his stride. You're also not going to replace his hit contributions. Stamkos is at a point per game and is doing just fine as well. I know people are big on Kopitar but look at his stats for the last 13 years--he's a 75 point centre. Maybe he has a big year but not worth taking the hit in shot totals.

I traded Boeser away this season when I ran into goalie troubles and regret it severely, but there's always the risk that he slows down/gets injured.

The pieces you're targeting aren't bad by any means, but you're giving up way too much.

Thanks for the perspective. I try to balance the name recognition and expectations verses blind numbers and recent results but its hard to decide which to follow sometimes. Thats why I love this site. Thanks for the help!

You mentioned PaciorettiĀ… how do you feel about him verses someone like Niederreiter for ROS?

Stay the course! As for Pacioretty vs Niederreiter, it's all a crapshoot. I'm fostering Patches and hoping for a miracle (finding his game and avoiding injury). Washington is damn near bottom in scoring this year and lacking in depth, and need someone of his scoring ability. Niedderreiter is inconsistent at best, will bounce around in a middle 6 role, and I don't see him getting PP1 time in Winnipeg. All the markings of a 50 point ceiling. I would rather take the gamble on Patches just for the fun of it, but could reasonably see them playing at the same pace.
