Gotta think they have a trade in the chamber for a goalie here. Stay tuned.

I wonder if it's Vejmelka. Kevin Weekes has been hinting at veggie being traded a bit today.

Could be a few options. One of the Sharks goalies? Gibson?

Definitely Gibson could be an option. Friedman said they inquired. Hopefully we get a few trades before the Christmas freeze!

The boring alternative is Raanta clears and they just keep him haha. Or even more boring they sign Halak as has been speculated in the past.

I would think a trade for a goalie is in the mix here. It can’t be that Freddy is coming back. To expose Raanta to other teams when there own team would really only option would than be Kochetkhov wouldn’t make sense at all.

If the trade is for Vejmelka is that really a better option than Raanta? Haha

Maybe taking a run at Jake Allen? Or someone from Detroit?

As some who owns SJ entire net, I’m hoping it’s one of those two. Both have very solid this season.

Gibson would be a head scratcher for me. Sure's he's healthier than Raanta, but not better the last few years.

I disagree. He's been playing behind a rag tag team for years and his numbers have suffered because of it. Put him on a contender and you'll see a different John Gibson. Take any goalie who's probably been mentally defeated for years and put them behind a solid team and you'll see improvement.

But you have to be willing to bet 6.4 M for the next 3 years. That's a big gamble for a goalie that has been a negative GSAA player the last 4 seasons.

Or maybe Anaheim retains some. Compared to what Carolina has, it can't be that much of a gamble.

I don't see Gibson in Carolina. Not any time soon, anyway. It's a hefty contract to take on and Gibson has not be great for a long long time. Yeah, you can blame the Anaheim D corp but a top goalie should have much better numbers than Gibson. The Hurricanes will explore all other, cheaper options, including staying pat and seeing how Kochetkov fairs as #1. Andersen is not done for the year, either.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

Thank you for posting this! As someone with Levi and the SJ net as my 3rd goaler, I really could use an Andersen return (assuming health of course).

I have to say I respect your goalie experience. I do think the new situation bump can happen, but I think he's been so bad for so long.

    You could be right, though.
