Same injury as Liljegren, but there's a wide range on recovery timeline for a high ankle sprain. But Lili has been out since November 2nd (almost 6 weeks) and Lili just started skating with no timeline to play.

If Woll is out 6 weeks, that has him returning January 20th which is 22 games or 42 days. Or he could miss until February 5th and been out 25games or 58 days. So I think it'll end up being early February you see him returning.

The All-Star break in late January is the only break Toronto will get all year too so that's the only "if we have him miss an extra 3 games, he can get a lot more days of rest".

So that means Toronto will have roughly 35 games left in the season, so if he starts 40% of them, that's 14 games he'll play.

The @MapleLeafs have recalled G Joseph Woll from his conditioning loan with the @TorontoMarlies.
Now what? Run with 3 Gs on the roster or expose Jones on waivers?

I believe they were at 21/23 roster spots before the recall. With their D injuries and Gio's family situation, they've been running a limited "healthy scratch" situation.

So I think they'll run 3 goalies. Once Gio is back, the roster will be maxed out. So the issues start when Jarnkrok and Timmins are healthy. And the way the Leafs have operated is that they will "cross that bridge when they need too", and it might be something that sorts itself out come the deadline (trading Robertson+Jarnkrok for help for example, not saying they will though).

Woll is technically still listed as LTIR, they just removed him for the conditioning stint label. So you presume that means he's going to be on the bench on Tuesday vs Vegas, but could also mean he suffered a setback, but that doesn't seem to be the case right now.

So right now the Leafs have 13F, 8D (1 on emerg loan), and 2G for a maxed out 23 man roster. Likely move is that Lajoie gets sent down for Woll when he's ready to return and he's not going to be dressed until he's starting. There's no point taking him off LTIR to backup.

    Weird place for the Leafs.
Samsonov was streaking very nicely (9w in 10gp, I think) prior to getting shellacked last game.
Martin Jones has been good while Samsonov shit-the-bed pre-Christmas.
Woll is probably the steadier of the three... but he's raw - and does one really want a rookie in a year when the Leafs seem to have a weaker East to maul through.

Boy... get out the 3-headed coin... this one is tough.
    I think they go:
    1. Samsonov
    2. Woll
    3. M.Jones

I think they hold all 3 goalies on roster.

The Leafs have given up 3 or more goals in every game since before the All Star Break except vs the Blues.

Samsonov has been good, but he hasn't shut the door on Woll. I wouldn't be surprised if Woll is the starter come playoff time.

But if you put any of the 3 on waivers, you're losing them. I think you run 3 until you're comfortable losing Martin Jones, then waive him and expect to lose him, but if you don't it's icing on the cake.
