Tage Thompson to Miss "Significant Time"

The Sabres head coach came out last night that Tage will miss significant time with an UBI. He had a collision in the first but did come back, so it's not that.

He blocked a shot with his hand and it sounds like the injury time will be measured in weeks and not days.

Yup shot right to the wrist it looked like. Looked like it might have hit just where the gloves end so not as much padding

Likely fractured bones in palm.
I think bone heals are typically 6-8 weeks... sometimes more.

Roslovic recently blocked a shot and he's 4-6 weeks - and that was at thicker bones (ankle).

The hand is brutal.
Especially for a center taking faceoffs.
When he comes back, I'd guess he also might not take faceoffs for a month.
I had a wrist fracture once - and it was brutal on the hockey-stick "squeeze".
I didn't even try to play... had to wait out a full school term (4 month) of rec hockey.

(This happened to either Datsyuk or Zetterberg many years ago - and coach pulled him off draws for a while.)

I'd like to add, that if you are not a competitive team, and the current owner of Thompson IS a competitive team, THIS is the time to be trying to invest in him. Chances are, the competitive teams are looking to stay competitive and more open to selling him now than a day or so ago.

I am not saying he's a "buy low" guy, but he should be cheaper than normal, or at the very least, available now where as before he probably wasn't. Take advantage of this opportunity.

All breaks are different, but I'd peg "6 weeks" - until more is known - as my "guess".
I watched Tage's block several times - his looked like it was in the soft palming of the glove - and not the wrist... but I'm reading "wrist"... so... who knows?!

I'd guess 6 weeks too. But with the schedule the Sabres have, 7 weeks mighhhhht make sense. But with today's medicine, it could be 4 weeks if everything goes very well.

I watched that game off and on last night and I did see Thompson have a hard time putting weight on his left? leg/ankle. He went straight to the dressing room. I thought that was the injury. What did I miss?

A Thompson owner in our roto league is looking for forward help but doesn't want to put TT on the block. I say give it about 2-3 weeks when he realizes he's slipping from 1st to 3rd. He has other injuries too. Trying to peddle his D. Very good advice Axe.

He's to miss "no more than 2months" is the report that came out last night.
