    Default Sorokin at 8.5m next season worth it?

    Hello

    Team in signature.

    I was thinking about cutting ties with Sorokin. Perhaps I regret later this season but next year he's ballooning to $8.25m which is too high for a keeper imho. We have 4 goalie categories, but 2 are weighted at 0.5... Win and SV% are weighted at value 1 where GAA and SHO are 0.5 each
    It was a big debate in the league on which goalie stats to keep and let go of so there was a compromise in the weight of some cats. Its our second season with this scoring structure and hasn't been an issue yet...

    I placed Sorokin on the trade block this morning, but was also debating just dropping for another goalie. Trades are very rare in this league due to the abundance of talent always on the FA. There's also the idea of getting 2 more managers onboard, which would help create more trading... but that's not important atm

    Goalies on the FA with decent contracts for the next 2+ years are;

    Jarry
    Hill
    Ingram
    Skinner
    10 Teams
    Keeper max 18 of 23 + 5 minors
    NHL Cap Hit
    G, A, SOG, HITS, BLKS, STP, FOW, Takeaways
    W, GAA, SV%, SO

    C

    W
    B. Tkachuk, Pastrnak,
    Perfetti, Giroux, Byfield, Reinhart, Svechnikov, Quinn

    D

    Don’t see a need to make this move right away. Think on it a bit. Let him sit on the trade block. Send some tentative offers to GMs you know are weak in goal.

    Assuming this is standard 1-win per category H2H play... then no, you don't keep Sorokin.

    H2H Championships are won by winning half categories+ each playoff round (or during regular season).
    And you can really only do this consistently with the dependable stats - which is from a solid skater core.

    So - yeah - if goalies are plentiful - which they ARE in 10-team x 2G slot leagues - then you don't invest in them.
    Stream goalies for schedule or defensive system.

    Good luck.

    [ROTO leagues is absolutely different story - and I'd probably keep him at $8.5m because the weight of his full-year stats is huge in the SV%/GAA portion of roto standings.]

    First off, there's no way I'm dropping him this year even in a cap league.

    Goalies on the FA with decent contracts for the next 2+ years are;
    Jarry
    Hill
    Ingram
    Skinner
    All of these guys are downgrades from a talent perspective, and 3 of them have almost no track record at all. Dropping him this year is straight up a really, really, terrible idea.

    Therefore he needs to be dealt or dropped after the season. I can see why you'd drop him then, but not now.
