On a side note how come Denton Mateychuk doesn't seen to get alot of love as a prospect?Seems to have the tools to be very fantasy relevant if he gets the right opportunity.

For me, its some combo of

Jordan Dumais
Connor Zary
Brad Lambert
Andrew Cristall

Mateychuk should be getting love, it is just that there's already a golden boy at the NHL level (Werenski) and a prospect who is better than he in the system (Jiricek). Not too dissimilar from the NJ situation with Hamilton, Hughes and Nemec, where Nemec is the odd person out with respect to big time scoring, unless something changes. Also the fact that young defensemen, apart from Werenski to a degree, haven't really bloomed in Columbus.

As to the others, Dumais, Lambert and Cristall are all closer to the boom/bust realm of prospects, but they're all booming right now. Zary looks decent and is just breaking into the league, so maybe he can make his mark this year. Other good names on the list, but you said 5.

I would think Easton Cowan ought to be included in a top 5 from that list. Snuck under the radar in the regular season, point per game in the playoffs, and has 27 in 19 to start this campaign to go along with a really strong showing at Leafs training camp.

I'm not really too keen on picking 5 of them but I also have no qualms with Senryu's assessments. I'm not too high on Lambert but I haven't seen enough of him to swear by that.
