In my 10 team keep 10 league, I'm currently in 4th, but hurting in net (WW is very thin). I've built this team from the ground up since 2015. I've drafted well, made solid trades and have a great core group of keepers. I opted to draft a bit younger this year in hopes of building a solid group of 10.. but left goalies to the last minute

It's a fine offer but I'd pass. The year-over-year predictability of goalie performance is so volatile that their value is discounted relative to forwards. In other words, I wouldn't pay a Tier 1 forward for a Tier 1 goalie.

I do think Oettinger is Tier 1, so I'd either counter with a forward like Laine or Svechnikov OR I'd look to acquire a lesser goalie like Gustavsson, Binnington, or Jarry and pay less.

It's clear that you need a goalie though I'm surprised there's not more goalies in FA; in a 10-team league, seems there would be more - I assume there's teams carrying 3-4 goalies?

It’s a decent offer , I like Oettinger a lot but wouldn’t give up EP for him straight up. Even though you have a strong forward group and need help in net, I’d want an add in this trade.

i would do it and not necessarily cause its great value but if anything will hold you back with your team, its goaltending. You are so stacked at F but your G is weak. I would do it

Man this is a tough one. You desperately need goaltending. EP is on a bender and his metrics don’t point to any significant regression. But Vancouver’s team metrics scream regression, so who knows how much that could impact him.

I’m not sure how many other goalies in the league I’d put ahead of Oettinger. He’s young and has a really good track record for a couple seasons now. I do put him in the top tier of goalies. So I don’t think it’s a bad trade. If there’s any way to squeeze a little more out of the other GM that would be great. But on the whole, it’s a fair deal and I think you’d be selling EP at the height of his value (in a good way). If Vancouver starts to step back, I’m not sure the other GM makes this deal.

Water gun to my head I would do this deal. Otteinger is an elite starter on a very good cup contending team. You would of done this deal last year for sure. If Drai and McDavid were doing what they’re supposed to be doing, easy decision. You need a goalie and might as well get one of the best.
