    I think he's played 8 NA games.

That's crazy, but he's the #2 ranked prospect and $10m a year is nothing. It's literally a bench vet guy it seems. Great idea to sign him even if he doesn't pan out in my opinion.

Winter meetings are this weekend, and it seems as the unofficial deadline to enter the Ohtani sweepstakes is the meetings. Wonder what happens starting Monday after the meetings.

Julio Rodriguez got 12 years $210 million in August of his rookie year and it seems to be on track for a decent deal. If the Brewers can get Chourio for 8 years and maybe $80 million, for a talent of similar prospect pedigree, then that's the kind of risk that the Brewers need to take. But I'd reserve that only for the highest of high-end prospects.

Rumours are that the Jays offer for Soto would be centered around Manoah. Makes sense for them because the Padres need MLB ready arms over prospect arms. The Padres request from the Yankees is rumoured of Michael King, Clark Schmidt, Drew Thorpe, Randy Vazquez, Jhonny Brito, 2 prospects for Soto and Grisham.

It sounds like Ohtani is leaning towards the Dodgers, but Toronto isn't making it easy. Which is honestly more than I thought would happen.

    MLB TRADE:
    Atlanta acquires:
    Kelenic, Marco Gonzales, Evan White

    Mariners acquire:
    Cole Philips, Jackson Kowar.

Essentially it was a money dump for Seattle.

Jeff Blair is also reporting the Jays are trying to trade George Springer to get out of his deal. He makes $24,166,666 for the next 3 seasons, and has a 8 team NTC.

He'll likely split time with Grissom, Ozuna (unless traded), or a vet. There's some flushing out to do in the Atlanta OF still. Grissom to SS would mean moving Arcia around.

Yes, that is what is likely going to happen...

I referred to Kelenic being the player that he was expected to be when he was a a prospect.

If he reached those expectations... he would not be splitting time with anyone very often.

Atkins was not in Nashville Monday and was doing media interviews via Zoom. He would not say where he was. Ohtani's agent was also not in Nashville. It later came out that Atkins, Ohtani's agent, and Ohtani were in Dunedin meeting with each other (Ken Rosenthal).

Would this be the Jays official offer meeting? hmmmm.

Atkins is on MLB Radio. He is now in Nashville. He was asked how his flight from Dunedin was and he masterclassed the answer into saying nothing lol.

Man these professionals are great at saying nothing but giving an answer you listen too.

Rumoured are Giants are out of the Ohtani race.

    Coming down to Dodgers/Jays.

    Heyman tweeted like 10min ago:
Ohtani did tell some folks he knows before his probable Jays FLorida visit he has a positive feeling about Toronto (and a few other cities/clubs including the Dodgers). Don't discount the Jays.
I feel like there's too many leaks about Toronto. Ohtani told teams if there's leaks that would be held against the teams....But you could also say it's the Dodgers trying to sabotage Toronto. I dunno, I just don't like when leaks come out heavy for one team, typically doesn't end well for Toronto teams.

You'd assume he knows the Dodgers facilities and staff by now (being closer to California in Japan), so the Jays visit would likely mean he's done his visits with teams and it could just be up to him now.

Dodgers aren't that much closer to Japan, honestly. However, they are much, much closer to Anaheim where he played so far.
