You don't want Chapman back? Or you want someone else to overpay for him?

He's going to get overpaid. A FA 3B with ++ defense and the potential for offense is going to get paid like $25m+ a year for like 6-7yrs. Jays have guys who can play 3B enough while their prospects develop their defensive game still. I rather that money go elsewhere.

It's sad that he's going to get overpaid. I was just reading on The Score that the Jays are working hard to bring him back and that he's already turned down a contract offer in the area of four or five years for more than $100M. Gross!

He is also a Scott Boras client, and Jon Heyman is a mouth for Boras a lot of the time. So he might just be a pawn in Boras trying to get his client more money.

    Where will Yamamoto land?

Supposedly more than half the teams have reached out to him.

It opens up another spot for Matt Chapman to go in Seattle. I'm ok with that lol.

    And Yamamoto....Dodgers. That's my guess.

So some recap of the signings:
Aaron Nola to Philly. 7yr, $172m
Sonny Gray to St Louis, 3yr, $75m
Reynaldo Lopez to Atlanta, 3yr, $30m
Kenta Maeda to Detroit, 2yr, $24m
Kyle Gibson to St Louis, 1yr, $13m
Lance Lynn to St Louis, 1yr, $11m
Jason Heyward to Dodgers, 1yr, $9m
Paul DeJong to WhiteSox, 1yr, $1.75m

I love the Ohtani to Toronto rumours and how the Canadian media is handling it. "We have 0 reason to think he's coming here. But we're going to talk about it as a potential because we need some clicks".

For what it's worth, I think Toronto has the ability to match any contract Ohtani is offered. I just don't think he'll choose Toronto over another team. Like $600m in Toronto is a take home of like $280m and the same deal in Texas is $350m. I think you can alter it with a huge signing bonus, but Toronto taxes will kill the deal.

Three pitcher signings by St. Louis.
That team doesn't like to not be competitive!
    Love to see it.

Hopefully Atlanta gets the good version of REynaldo!

Sonny Gray is their youngest pitcher at 34yrs old. I don't think they're going to be competitive lol.

I can't help but get excited. But ya...the Jays are definitely just going to sign Candelario and some SP5 and call it a day.
