Question Too Much to Give for McDavid?

Important League Note: Players can only be kept for 5 years after being drafted. This can slide forward one year if the player has less than 100GP. There are 10 keeper slots and 5 minors slots.

For the bottom team in my sig, would you give Marner (5 years remaining), Rielly (4 years remaining), Cooley (6 years remaining), and a high '24 first rounder (likely to be either Dahlin, MacKinnon, Kucherov or Pettersson) FOR McDavid (3 years remaining), Eklund (6 years remaining), and a '24 fifth rounder?

I'm likely going to decline (or counter with me giving up a 2nd instead of a 1st), but I wanted to get your thoughts as well. What say you? Thanks!

Ya if the first rounder is really going to be one of those 4 guys, then it's too much. If you can bring it down to a 2nd, seems like good value.

Thanks - my thoughts as well. REP left.

If I were the McDavid owner I would say no thx. Unless your adding 1 of those 1st rounders I wouldn’t be interested. But if you can get McDavid without that addition then you have done really well. Good luck.

Update: I just gave Marner, Rielly & a late 2nd for McDavid & a high 5th. That's 5 years of Marner & 4 of Rielly for 3 years of McDavid.

Weird to feel like this was buying low on McDavid, but I'm pretty sure that's what I did?

You did well. Even if the Klingberg experiment ends during this year or after this year, Rielly can't be counted on for full-time PP1 deployment. I'd rather have 3 years of McDavid than 5 of Marner. This is a good piece of business for you.

Thanks! As a Leafs fan it hurt a bit, but I have to think in the end it will have been the right choice. I’d sent the offer to the guy last week and he accepted it last night after the “Toilet Bowl” Oilers loss to the Sharks, haha.

This seems like good value. McDavid is in a bit of buy-low window given the tire fire that is the Oilers.
You probably cannot get this deal if McDavid is on his typical 140 point pace. I think you will be happy.
McDavid and Mac/Kucherov/Petterson (using that 1st) going forward is a sick pairing.

Thanks! Yeah, considering earlier I almost had to give up Cooley & a high 1st to make this happen, I'm glad with the revised and accepted offer.
