Default Too Little For McDavid Or Just Right?

Not the league in my signature but a 14 team full dynasty league with an identical scoring and roster set-up.

My team is middle of the pack at best and not likely to be a true contender this year.

I was offered the J. Robertson + Fantilli + Byfield in exchange for McDavid. I'm tempted to take it but thought I'd get a few opinions before making up my mind. Thoughts?

Nope. Not even close. (assuming you have McDavid)

McDavid + a 40 pointer could score as much as Robertson + Fantilli + Byfield combined this year. Those are good names but McDavid needs to return the equivalent of two Robertsons+ to make the math work in your favor.

In a 14 team league I'm not considering moving McDavid unless you are getting almost two J. Robertson level talents back. Or at the very least another perennial 90 point player. Fantilli might be that in a couple years but not yet and Byfield has some major question marks at this point.

Agree with the above. Far too much uncertainty with Fantilli and Byfield yet for them to form 2/3 of the move for McDavid.

In my opinion, with someone like McDavid, before dealing him you always ALWAYS have to put out the word that you're listening to offers to see what comes in or you're quite likely shortchanging yourself on the return.

You thought about taking this? Not even close. Robertson is a fine name but I would need a Mackinnon or Drasatil as the starter. After that I like Fantilli but would need a big upgrade on Byfeild. Not that close.

    Not nearly enough.
As all have said it takes 2-90+ point players and more to move McDavid.
So you will not be competitive for 1-2 years, are you worried McDavid will lose value by then ???

All humor aside, if you're going to trade the unquestioned pick 1.1 in a dynasty, the offer has to be so overwhelming with proven players that you question whether the other owner is in their right mind. I would want to see a deal where the owner receiving McDavid would be clearly hurting his team's chances to win in the short term. In a 14 team, I'd want to see at least 2 players who would be first round picks, and that's the start of the offer. Add a guy like Jack Hughes or Matthew Tkachuk to the original proposal, and then you're in the neighborhood. As I've seen stated elsewhere on these boards, you'll never regret having McDavid. But you could regret losing him.

Here, the other owner appears to be trading a very good player in Robertson plus his spare parts for the best asset in hockey. Spare parts with considerable promise, but still, unproven spare parts. Can't let that happen.

    Miles away.

I'm fairly confident in predicting that Robertson's numbers last season will be his career high.
