Just noticed it too and didn't know if it had always been there. I think it's a stupid move, but maybe the lack the funding to do a proper job. Will they put even less effort in the position eligibility department now? Won't they be update throughout the season? This is just another indication of the downhill trajectory of Yahoo fantasy.

I've reached out to Yahoo to see if this means they'll stop doing updates themselves.

Maybe they finally realised how embarrassing a job they were doing with the eligibility, having made several slates of massive changes in the middle of draft season. It's extremely rare for them to make even a simple change like this to improve the flexibility of leagues so props to them for doing it. They must be concerned people are considering leaving after that preseason fiasco.

I see it as a cop out. How are the commissioners supposed to update position eligibilities throughout the season? The whole game depends on some central, competent authority.

Early indications in my leagues so far has everyone in agreement that we wont touch this tool because it would be too much work/arguing/etc to decide who gets what.

Then a few others ratcheted it up a notch (as a joke) and started posting screenshots of powerplay lines where dudes like McDavid and Matthews are playing on one of the points on the powerplay so they should get D eligibility haha

Hopefully any manual position eligibility changes will be posted as a "transaction" or in the "league chat/updates" section in the league feed to keep track of them.

I find this interesting. I'm guessing manual position eligibility settings haven't reallky ever been a thing in hockey, even with the Burns & Byfuglien F/D splits? Our league was manual back then, so I have no clue.

I remember doing this sort of thing as a baseball commish.

Could try it on Krejci or similar. No option to remove it once added? Are you sure about it?
