Meh - not a clear win but that’s ok. I’d rather have March over Perron but prefer Holtz to Kovalenko. But still a lot of uncertainty with both of these prospects so it’s a fine gamble. Seems like a pretty fair trade.
League in signature.
Because this league was my first ever dynasty/cap league, I always asked for your opinion before I made moves. It led me to wining the inaugural year last season. You guys always approved my moves, so thank you.
But today, quick moving negotiations led me to trade away Perron and Holtz for Marchessault and N.Kovalenko (COL).
My competitor has a good team and we are both looking to compete again.
Did I give too much in Holtz for trying to bridge the Marchessault/Perron gap? Streaming minors is a huge advantage in our league.

I'm not a Holtz fan, but I'd have aimed higher than Marchessault. I haven't run the numbers for your scoring system, but I put Perron and Marchessault on roughly even footing. I suspect Marchessault is an upgrade because of SOG volume and MAYBE he pops if that Vegas PP1 that was so good in the playoffs continues rolling this season.
I'd probably have aimed to upgrade a different piece than Perron with the Holtz chip.
The trendy thing is to just give up on players that take more than a year to pop off but I play mostly dynasties where for better or worse youre stuck with a guy once you draft him. The reality is a lot of these guys do pan out just fine. It might not get the clicks or the likes of a grandiose statement deciding they're done- lol- but more often than not these guys do.find a way if you hold the course.
Holtz had an incredible year in the AHL two seasons ago and kept it up last year. Had he struggled or pouted or been publicly bent out of shape- id have more concerns but he didn't. They drafted him to score and he scored the lights out in the A. Was he ever going to score a bundle playing ten minutes a night on the 3rd and 4th line 8n the NHL? No- probably not- but it doesn't change his upside.
If you're patient I think Holtz can be one of those rare players who threatens 40 goals- i think a ppg is a reasonable expectation amd if he does manage to "pop" on NJ with Hughes et all- you're looking at a phenom.
Kovolenko- is getting some nice press right now and its great to see. Hes an interesting add and there's some genuine upside there- but realistically he looks a heck of a lot more like a 55 point player than an 85 point one and even that is 2 or 3 years out.
In the short term you add Marsch- thats a win. If you can leverage that into short term success I think you'll be fine you gave up Holtz. If you can't its probably "a box of tissues and a bottle of wine time" when Holtz is outscoring all three of them by next year...

its not teh worst deal ever made, seems like a saw off to me in the end for this year, but Holtz is likely to be the best of the group in the not so far off future..

I'm with what I believe is the consensus here; the trade is just OK today but down the road there is a pretty good chance that this will not look so good. I am a believer in Holtz and I'm not at all convinced Kovalenko is anything more than a 3rd line type. Time will tell.

I think it will likely help shorter term, as I feel Marchessault > Perron. Prefer Holtz to Kovalenko.
I'm in the gotta give to get group for an opinion.

If you look at production of Perron vs Mars in your format, they are almost identical in last few years…
and Holtz >>>>> Kovalenko
so while I agree that it’s not terrible trade, it’s definitely not one I would make
