Holtz for Hofer

Are you a contender? I would guess yes in a 32 team league.

Having multiple streamable goalies seems like it could be a very good thing. However, Holtz is a high draft pick and high pedigree forward. That said starting golaies command a high price in a 32 team league, and Hofer has a path to steal a starting job.

What kinds of skaters are on waivers? I would guess there are no NHL goalies on waivers.

Feels like a bit of a reach for goaltending. Hofer may steal some games from Binnington, but St. Louis may not be all that good. I'm loathe to give up prospects right when they are hitting that post-hype stage that Holtz is in. I've never been that enamored with Holtz, so I don't mind dealing him, I'd just rather go for either a higher end option than Hofer, or find a cheaper version of Hofer and perhaps use Holtz in another deal.

The league has 2400 players owned. Basically every team has 50+ minors on top of their 23-man roster. I think Colin Delia (over 50 minors games) and Zack McEwen are the top FA’s.

I get the necessity to overpay for goaltending, it exists in most leagues and in a 32 Team dynasty it's stupid. But, I agree, Hofer for Holtz is just totally underwhelming, and there is a huge chance you will regret this trade big time in a year or two. I'd work my ass off to find a better deal. If it doesn't happen, well then maybe you have no choice but I would like to know how many goalie starts as a minimum you need? Saros is a work horse.

Delia is not minors eligible anymore, therefore he is just a wasted pro roster spot that is better left open for minors streaming. Delia getting 1 start every two weeks, versus 14 minors GP every 2 weeks is not comparable.

He's not a wasted roster spot in the offseason. Right now, he's battling to be the backup on Winnipeg versus Brossoit. If Hellebuyck gets dealt and they bring nobody in, that might be something. If it doesn't happen you drop him and replace with a fungible forward.

I think Hofer is the starting goalie in St Louis by the mid point of this season. If that's valuable then this deal makes sense for you. I think you could probably get more for Holtz but regardless of that, I think you win this trade.
