Default Head scratching offer in my inbox.

    League in signature.

Defending champ and going for dynasty prize pool.

My Verhaeghe for his Mavrik Bourque and Brisson.

I obviously lose some now points, but the way I stream my minors under (83GP) is paramount to my success.

I already told him no, but didn’t decline or counter yet. If I can get some cheap, guaranteed points coming back, should I consider a counter?

He also has Dube (points now), Jiricek, Pelletier, Carcone, Duehr, Stankoven and Zary.

I have decent minors, but no picks over the next 2 years.

Rep to all because this is big.

That's a reject for me for two reasons.

First, you're winning at the moment. There's no need to rebuild. Things go wrong during the season, you can't assume that your team is so good that you can afford to trade useful pieces. Keep winning.

Second, Bourque and Brisson don't move the needle. Maybe they'll be useful someday in a 32 team dynasty. But neither are going to show up on a list of elite prospects. They're B level guys. Your league, with 32 teams and apparently tens of thousands of players on rosters (this might be overstatement) may have a different market wherein second tier prospects carry less value than in 14-20 team dynastys. Still, if I were to deal Verhaeghe and his 40 goal season, I'd want a more elite prospect or high rookie draft pick. Jiricek fits the bill for me. Jiriceck and perhaps two of the skaters you named would be more appealing.

Amazing responses and so fast. Rep to all it allows and I will keep coming back for more.

Was thinking of a Dube, Jiricek and Carcone counter. But I think you’d all say no to that?

I'd hold Verhaeghe... if this season doesn't pan out, you can always trade him (and the full year he has left at $4m) for a great return to a contender.
I don't see any point in making this trade now.

Yeah make sure you’re getting atleast half his points back with upside and then a solid prospect (top75) and probably a pick as you said to recoup.

But as most said hold for what he is offering and then if season doesn’t pan out then you go for rebuild and you can sell for more I’m sure as he continues to put up similar numbers to this past season. He has hype now but many are wondering if he is for real or not

I don't hate this counter by any means, but I feel with you going for the dynasty prize this year, I think keeping Verhaeghe for this year helps you the most towards that. Like Pengwin7 said though, you could always trade him next year for a similar return. Dube has some positives on Verhaeghe, such as being 3 years younger and hits a lot more, but overall Verhaeghe's pp1 deployment, linemates, total shots and total points gives him a pretty decent edge for this year. So I too vote for revisiting this idea next offseason, and using Vergaeghe to help go for the dynasty pool this year. Good luck!

I'd also hold Verhaeghe (who has maybe the hardest name for me to spell in the league) here. You should be able to get a return like this anytime during the year if you aren't repeating, and he isn't out for the year. If you got Dube & better prospects, that would be a maybe.

In a win now mode, I need an offer I can't refuse to trade valuable asset against prospect and this is not one of those.

another vote for the cat. mavrik has a lot of competition in dallas too. don't see him becoming impactful unless there's big movement on that roster soon.

Agree. When you are in the position to win you have to make a run. I'd be looking at ways to improve your team to win again instead of worrying about how a deal can make you younger. When you win all the mistakes you made getting there are justified no matter how bad the deals you made. Verhaghe still has a lot of hockey to play and he'd make you pay. (Sorry got a bit rhymey there) Good luck and like Rocky said "Go for it".

I would hold. Those prospects MAY become stars but they all face many obstacles that Verhaghe has dealt with and succeed in overcoming (transition to NHL, depth chart of respective teams, playing with prime linemates…)

You have a winning combination right now, no need to roll the dice and see if you can get better IMO.

If you are really keen on moving him though, I’d look for a 60pt guy with potential for more (Konecny, Batherson, Terry, Zacha, Mercer…) along with a solid prospect rather than 2 solid prospects and a filler.

    Good luck!
