Some... CAR, EDM, TBL, WSH are -130/EVEN (which means you get less for taking the... popular... over)
Some... SJS, PHI are EVEN/-130 (which means you get less for taking the... popular... under)

Will be fascinating to see if a less ballyhooed draft results in a smoothing of the standings after a tankerific season that saw a gulf between the haves and have nots. Because there are a lot of teams at the top of the standings who either got better, or at least got no worse, who are nevertheless projected for a 3-7 -point drop like CAR, EDM, DAL, NJD, TOR, VGK, COL, SEA, MIN. And then you have all those teams who just missed out but seemingly improved who have a 5-7 -point bump baked into their number like PIT, DET, OTT, WSH, STL, VAN. Not to mention some big jumps for the teams at the bottom like CHI, SJS, ANA, CBJ, and the understandable projected drop for BOS.
Is the league really going to smooth out that much or are a bunch of these mid-low teams going to flop again?
I like the overs for EDM, DAL, NJD, CAR, MIN, as well as some mid-tier teams like CGY and NYI.
I like the unders for VAN, STL, WSH, CHI, SJS, ANA.
Over: Nashville, NJD, NYR, Arizona, Columbus: I love Columbus at 73.5
Under: Toronto, Chicago, Seattle, San Jose: Definitely Chicago at 72.5

I think Dallas will be top team in NHL this year.
They just seem to have everything.
They have great forward depth - especially with Duchene & Steel coming in.
They have underrated defensive depth - especially with emerging Thomas Harley (see playoff contributions).
And... Oettinger - for me - is now a top5 NHL goalie. Barring injury - fingers crossed.
Keefe has averaged 111pts/82games in his head coaching career, which is a 51-22-9 record. Which would also be the most regular time losses Keefe has had in a single year funny enough.
It should be interesting how the ripple effect of "Bad for Bedard" tank shakes out, but if we look back at the McDavid tank year, we had 12 teams with over 100pts (104.8pts/team avg), with the bottom 5 teams averaging 62.2pts, with a obvious bottom 5 tanking. The year after that tank yr, we only had 10 teams with over 100pts, but the average was 103.9pts/team. With the bottom 5 teams averaging 73.4pts.
This past season we again had 12 teams with over 100pts, but the average was 110.2pts/team (thanks to Bostons 135pts). The bottom 5 average was 60.8pts.
I think we see a much more competitive bottom 5, so I think one of SJS or Anaheim go over 67.5pts. I also think we see 10 teams with over 100pts.
I think we have Over:
Dallas (104.5), LA (100.5), Toronto (106.5), Colorado (106.5), Boston (100.5), Edmonton (105.5), Vegas (103.5), NJD (105.5), Florida (98.5), TBL (97.5), Anaheim (67.5)
I think Unders:
Montreal (71.5), Philly (75.5), Ottawa (91.5), NYR (101.5)
It's such a crapshoot though. Leafs can go through a 15 game bad stretch at the beginning of the yr (which they tend to do) and fire Keefe and go through growing pains with a whole new system.

I also really like Dallas this season. It's a bit unnerving to see how well-rounded they are since I'm really hoping the Oilers can climb the mountain in the next year or two.
The Stars have elite players in their prime at every position, including at goalie and a Norris caliber defenseman, plus a bumper crop of young guys pushing up, and they just signed a bunch of talented forwards to fill depth roles. The only place they are lacking is a back up goalie in the event something happens with Oettinger.
Toronto got worse defensively with their free agent additions and I definitely do not like having Samsonov as a penciled in #1 starter. With the free agency questions looming over their head, I can see an already mentally-fragile Leaf team go south especially with the pressure of playing in Toronto. I think Toronto is going to be fascinating this year to follow.

Getting close to the end of the year...
The Big Misses this Year:
AMAZINGNESS: Vancouver is going to obliterate their 88.5pts prediction. Winnipeg is well over their 91.5pts. The Rangers are well over their 101.5pts.
DISAPPOINTING: Calgary is far short of their 93.5pts prediction. Ditto Ottawa's 91.5pts. Seattle not close to 93.5. And the big junkhouse trio of ANA (p67.5pts), CHI (p72.5pts), and SJ (p67.5pts) are all 10-35pts off.
THE WORST: The Devils were pegged for 105.5pts... and currently are sitting with 79pts. That's a 26pt deficit... the most among expected playoff teams!
Oh dear, it's not looking good for my picks!
