Who are you keeping?

Jarry - for me, by a good margin.
I just think he's the most likely to get volume starts AND wins.

(For clarity, I took Gustavsson in front of him in the Dobber Mock going on right now... but... that was before the Karlsson trade. PIT is a powerhouse now - and I have more faith in Jarry with DeSmith off roster. Nedeljkovic is a train-wreck behind average-ish defensive-Dmen... not sure what Dubas was thinking there. PIT - as a team - is improved... but they'll be winning 6-5 with Nedelj spot starts... not sure if you want that.)

P7 predicted splits & team win%:

Jarry 60 / Ned 22. PIT win rate = 58%. Jarry 35w.
Gus 54 / Fleury 28. MIN win rate = 55%. Gus 30w.
Vanecek 48 / Schmid 34. NJ win rate = 62%. Van 30w.

Vanacek, Gustafsson, Jarry is the order I'd go.

They're all essentially the same though.

Vanacek should get the most wins/saves ratio
Gustafsson should get the best peripherals. He'll play the least, but should get the best per game stats
Jarry is just behind both in all categories, but could get the most saves and wins just by volume.

It really depends what level of safety do you want:
Jarry - Volume, but injury risk
Vanacek - Best team, but Schmid could eat starts
Gustafsson - Best peripherals, but likely won't get the wins. But a MAF injury turns him into the best option.

I would be going with Jarry as well.

Pittsburgh is in win now mode.
They want to win again before Crosby is done.
They will be rejuvenated with getting Karlsson coming in.
They are going to play motivated hockey.

I could see Pittsburgh competing for top spot in the division this year.

LOL, I do have him first in my mind but I can see reasons why the others are hard to pass on too. That's why I'm here asking. I have doubts in all of them but can see strengths in each of them too.

If the goalie is being being drafted with the idea of playing this year as well as being kept for next year, I would go:
Gustavsson

Vanecek

If the goalie is just for this year and not being kept for next year, I would go:
Jarry
Gustavson

To be clear my answer is more geared to 'win now'. My answer is, I believe Vanecek to have the best fantasy season this year of the three.


While I do see Penguins improving, the defensive side of things not so much.
I could also be too low on the Wild.

Or spend it in the draft on skaters because goalies are voodoo

Gus had an awesome season, but I'm not sold on Minny and Gus' track record isn't as long.
I think if Jarry didn't have the injury risk then he would be my top choice, but right now it's Vanacek by a hair just because of how dominant I think NJ will be. They're my bet to be the best team in the conference, and even if Vanecek only plays 45 games that could still be 30 wins. If he plays 60, then we're looking at a possibility for 40+.
