Default Breakfast! What's your go to?

For fluff purposes only, adding to the coffee thought theme, here's some questions for you.

    1. Do you eat breakfast?
    2. What is your go to breakfast during the week and does it change on the weekend?

    For me

    1. I always eat something in the morning. I find it hard to function if I dont eat some sort of breakfast.

    2. During the work week, I switch it up from cereal to toast or something quick and easy. On the weekends when I have time I am a eggs and bacon kind of guy. I could eat eggs and bacon at any meal.

    What say you? Fluff fluff...

Weekdays I'll eat fruit and a granola bar. Randomly when I'm working from home I'll make an everything bagel with cream cheese. Weekends, I'll typically just have coffee and water, then eat lunch around 11am.

I am not a big breakfast person, it's like too much work for my enjoyment of it. And then if I go out for breakfast/brunch (forced too) I hate it. Going out is overpriced, but breakfast stuff is sooooo overpriced and always have been.

If I go out, I typically stick with a "typical breakfast" of over easy eggs, hashbrowns, Bacon or Sausage, and dry toast. Always ask for dry toast, they use way too much butter on.

However, there's a spot downtown Hamilton called Saint James that does an amazing breakfast sandwich called The Drive Thru. It's just like sausage patty, scrambled egg, chili mayo, and a hashbrown on an english muffin, but that things top notch.

I used to work at McDonalds as a teenager, and working mornings I think turned me off breakfast. They don't make it gross or dirty or anything, but working 8hrs around eggs, sausage, bacon, and grease for hours while hungover just wasn't it.

I am the breakfast maker for kids mornings in our house:
Monday - Pancakes (from bisquick scratch)
    Tuesday - Cereal
    Wednesday - Microwave waffles
    Thursday - Pancakes
    Friday - Cereal
    Sat/Sun - kids prep themselves.

I'm a cereal guy - have been my whole life.
These days, Cheerios every day. Nutritional stats rank it pretty well.
If I'm feeling daring, I'll take the extra sugar in Multi-Grain Cheerios.

One thing I never do is EAT OUT for breakfast.
    Ugh. No. Hard no.
To have to wait on morning food - deal with other people's food smells... no. No thank you.
Simple and immediate and cheap is what I want. Happy man.

Breakfast is pretty crazy - for me - that some people can get through 2-3 hours of a day without food.
My wife often will not prep herself food until 11am or so... I'll be prepping my lunch within that same 11am-noon hour.
I've seen it. I'd say people are a perfect 33/33/33 split, from what I've lived.

33% - NEED IT to start everyday.
33% - have it, everyday - but can survive without it.
33% - don't need it - can get the day going without it - will grab something later

I too hate buying breakfast out if I can avoid it. Too expensive for what I know it really costs.

I'm part of the 33% that need it to start every day, much like coffee.

I am a Time Restricted Feeding guy, eat dinner (usually latest 6pm or so) and then go 18 hours without eating again (known as 18/6 or 17/7).

But not religiously, for example this morning I decided to have one of my wife's delicious carrot muffins.

I will also occasionally have a bagel with avocado, or a non-sweetened yogurt with granola and berries, for the health benefits.

So you're big into intermittent fasting then. How do you find it works for you, health and weight wise? How long have you been doing it?

Been doing it since fall 2017 when I went from almost 200 down to 155 (I'm 5'8 on a good hair day) - for me it was life-changing, that plus personal workouts and yoga. I found it contributed to very high metabolism and after a while you really enjoy the feeling of delayed gratification on food.

I eat 4 meals a day with snacks inbetween. 5 meals when I go to the gym (which I haven’t done in too long). My dinner is at 10pm. Im still hungry when I wake up in the morning.

I use to be a big cereal guy. Growing up in a farm milk was readily available, I’d drink litres of it a day.
I stopped with the everyday cereal, too much sugar.
It’s now oatmeal with pumpkin and walnuts. Cereal Saturday mornings as they are early mornings for me and I just want to eat something in 2 minutes.

Pancakes do happen from time to time.
Maybe once a month I skip breakfast on Sundays… if I’m doing a lazy day. It does feel good doing that, but only once in a while.

I'm in the group of I need something for breakfast. Heck it's 10am here and I've already eaten half of my lunch.

Typically it's whatever carb we have around with some kind of topping (and occasionally eggs on weekends):
Carb: Pancakes, bagels, toast, croissant, leftover pizza, etc
Topping: Peanut butter, butter, jam, nuttella, tomato sauce and cheese, etc.
Will have some fruit if I have berries or something else easy/already cut.

Also have a green tea every morning. Will just have the one on days I'm in the office, but on days I work from home or weekends I'll typically reuse the leaves 2-3 times.

And for the record, we call that supper here on the East Coast. Dinner or lunch happens at noon.

Dinner / supper means the same to me.
I don’t get home from work until 9:30pm.
Farm chores also don’t get done until (varies though) that late at night

I’ve taken to premising yogurt parfaits for the work week, mix the yogurt/berries in Tupperware and bring the granola to add in. It’s been a nice healthy breakfast and allows me some variety by switching up the fruit. I’ll usually have a clif bar mid morning as well.

Weekends I occasionally cook a large scoff as I love a big breakfast with bacon, egg, Lunenburg pudding, toast, fruit etc.

But usually the weekends now have been a smoothie and some boiled eggs particularly if I’m trying to rush out the door for summer fun
    Without me, it's only "aweso".

I for sure need to add more yogurt to my diet.

I try to avoid bacon… doesn’t always happen as it’s so tasty.
Pigs are so smart, they know what’s going to happen.

I got around to trying goat the other night. Had it in a stew was pretty tasty!

Breakfast used to be oatmeal with blueberries, raisin toast with peanut butter and a protein shake (Vega, plant based) with almond milk (lactose intolerant) and a banana.

Now that I’m retired, the day starts with a cup of coffee. Breakfast is pretty much the same except peanut butter is now gone (started to have an intolerance to peanuts). Added eggs either scrambled or hard boiled.

On days that I golf in the morning I add some cheese (I can tolerate some types of cheeses) . Eggs, oatmeal with blueberries, cereal with added raisins and almonds, protein shake and a lactose yogurt, along with the raisin toast. Enough staying energy to get me through the front nine.

On those cooler days going into fall it’s a couple cups coffee with toast, fresh fruit on the deck reading Dobber Hockey daily ramble and the forums before I pick up my book.
