Lafreniere
Wright
Kakko
Slaf
Hey guys,
Starting the inugural dynasty draft here of the new league (not the one in my signature currently). Quick run down of the league is as follows:
Dynasty, salary cap/floor = Real NHL, 32 Teams, G=1, A=1, SOG = 0.1 (nothing additional for powerplay points).
Long term, who are we feeling out of Wright/Slaf/Kakko/Laf?

I think playing two-way NHL center is going to be a tall task for Shane Wright.
I am very confident that's why he dropped in the NHL draft.

These guys are very much on different timelines. Right now it’s Laf Kakko, Wright Slaf. In 3 years time it’ll probably be Wright, Slaf, Laf, Kakko. Slaf is the longest burn and could easily end up being the best. As a big F he has a 400 game BT. This is apples and oranges somewhat.

i am watching this thread intensely as i own Kakko, who im trying to decide if he's worth keeping over say McTavish, and Wright is available to draft.
i have 2,3 5 and 8 so its possible i could draft both guys..but still interested in this outcome.

Wright and Kakko tied
Very good points - realistically it should take Slaf as long as it’s taking Kakko given both big bodies, but I think Slaf might be a bit quicker to BT. But this season will be huge in that regard, to see how he comes off that injury and the still very high expectations.

Since it’s long term (3+ years) I’d rank them
Laf 30-30-200=80
Wright 25-35-185= 78.5
Slaf 30-25-200 =75
Kakko 25-30-150= 70
These are all pretty close though imo. I’m not a huge believer in slaf (if there were more cats, I think he’d move up) these could fluctuate from year to year very easily though.
Long term (the OPs request), in this setup, I'd rank them:
Lafreniere
Kakko
Slafkovsky
Wright
Three wingers and a center and the center will usually take longer to develop, but I do think Wright turns into a better "real life" player than a fantasy one.

Yeah - I'm fine with that.
Personally, I still think that all of Laf, Kakko, and Slaf have 90pt upside.
They are interchangeable, IMO. I'll give the nudge to Kakko because I've seen his game and it looks NHL ready to *pop*.
He just needs the minutes. Laf too. NYR simply doesn't have the minutes - but both LOOK NHL-quality.
It's possible that Laf & Kakko need to get out of New York to have a chance.
Slaf, for me, I find it unbelievable that people want to sour on him for his rookie season.
Meh. Rantanen did nothing in his rookie season 9gp.
He didn't do much in his sophmore season either.
These players can *pop* though... and we've got to give them 4-5 seasons to do it.
Sometimes a 2nd team.
Others have said it well - Shane Wright should be a very solid NHL player.
But... I mean... the stockpile of SEA forwards I'm seeing aren't exactly two-way guys.
I think Wright's going to have to manage a tight 200-ft game as Seattle's long-term C2.
I think Beniers has way more upside and will be C1 for next 5-7 years.
I don't see Wright jumping Beniers.
It's possible SEA could have an electric PP1... that's the only way I see Wright winning this battle.
The wingers (Laf, Kakko, Slaf) simply have a much easier NHL-route towards scoring.
Their teams will WANT and COUNT ON THEM to score.
Wright... he needs to anchor a net-positive Seattle line2.
If he can do that with Bergeron-esque scoring... so be it.
So... clearer list with numbers
Long-term 3yr peak averages:
90 Laf
90 Kakko
90 Slaf
...
75-80 Wright
Since you state long term
Wright
Slaf
Lafreniere
Kakko
The bottom line here IMO is that people's rankings are sort of all over the map. It's way too early to know how this is going to work out although this coming season may well provide a clearer picture but in the long term, who knows. That said, I have them:
Laf
Kakko
Slaf
Wright
