Rizzo + pick For David Kase
Looks like Carolina trades Rizzo and a 2025 5th round pick for PHI David Kase. Am I missing something? Kase is a 26 year old who probably doesn’t have much of an NHL future for a promising prospect AND a pick? According to the dobber guide he could be a potential star? What gives?

It's apparently a "thank you" deal for buying out DeAngelo. Rizzo was going to be the prospect if the initial PHI/CAR trade had gone through.
I can see Kase coming back at some point and serving as depth for Carolina. Maybe as an injury call-up. But apparently he's signed in Europe for now.

Yeah you’re probably right! I mean no guarantee rizzo pans out but Kase isn’t really an intriguing player in my eyes!

So basically the trade wasn't allowed by the NHL... but the GMs still found a way to get it done.
Makes it better than Philly at least got something for the DeAngelo buyout.
