This is before the dumba signing. But makes it clear what the team' s thoughts are on durzi vs valimaki. Obviously things can change but durzi is gonna get the first shot.

I do not concur. Maybe Moser, but Dumba isn't going to sniff PP1 and my guess is his OZ% will struggle to be 40%, if even that.

These days, teams are thinking "OK, is anybody giving draft picks for this guy at 50% ($1.95m)?"
ANA got "something" for Klingberg last year.
ARI can probably get "something" for Dumba this year.

Other than landing in San Jose - this is probably best location for him to have fantasy upside for this year.

I think somebody would give them a pick for Dumba at full price at the deadline. Admittedly retaining on a 1 year contract doesn't tie you up if it's the last deal you make, but 4M isn't crazy money for him. We've seen a lot worse contracts lately for longer term for D.

This is good insight. The market for d-men is always more active at the deadline than over the summer. This might be a move with the sole intent to flip when the time comes.

He gets to go from Minnesota weather to Arizona weather, that's a benefit for him...

But it's a bet on himself kind of move. He'll get opportunities to inflate his value, and Arizona will look to move him if they aren't in the race. And I think Arizona is ready to push a bit for wins, but not fully yet.

Here's my thoughts on his going there.

First off, he's betting on himself for his next contract. He's going to play like crazy for another big money deal. Also, if Arizona is looking to get a max return for him, they are going to give him opportunities to shine in all situations.

I am expecting a big year from Dumba this year.
