No way you keep him over Batherson in a keeper.

I think he does well in Ottawa, in that offense - maybe 30/30 in the cards.

    Tkachuk-Stutzle-Giroux
    Tarasenko-Norris-Batherson
    Kubalik-Pinto-Greig

Pretty solid top 9... assuming Batherson remains playable.

He was signed to replace Debrincat. Has nothing to do with Batherson.

A lot of weight is on Norris staying healthy in this lineup, my only question is who plays the defensive zone draws and PK roles. They really have the 4 PK forwards, but no one I see after that. And Mathieu Joseph is one of them, and he's not exactly the most innocent player out there when he's on the ice.

Assuming Giroux moves to the left side:
    Giroux - Stutzle - Tarasenko
    Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
    Kubalik - Pinto - Joseph

    Then the PK:
    Stutzle/Joseph
    Norris/Giroux

Then the line out after a PK could be
Tkachuk - Fresh Center - Batherson

The best thing to do in the past FA is waiting a couple of weeks on bargains that fell through the cracks and has to drop their price. Who would you rather have, 33yr old Killorn at a 4yr x 6.25m or a 1yr x 5m Tarasenko?

Like Bunting, Compher, Zucker, Killorn, and Bertuzzi all signed to roughly the same deal as Tarasenko, and I think the best ones are the 1yr deals on Tara and Bertuzzi. I just wonder how Ottawa is going to deploy their RW defensively, and if Giroux sticks with Stutzle but shifts to the LW.

My feeling is Formenton is way more at risk of suspension than Batherson, but who knows.

Either way I think this is a solid landing spot for Tarasenko - sort of like the Giroux acquisition, a veteran scoring forward to supplement the excellent young forwards and Tanks also brings the Cup experience which helps.

I dunno, hope he does well but I didn't see big things from him in NY so not expecting the world from him. Good signing for the Sens since they lost the Cat (who I'd rather have).

Am I seeing it right that Tarasenko has a NTC?

    Boy - 1yr x $5m with NTC... hmmmm.
For me, this feels like Tank just biding his way towards the big 2024 UFA summer.
And, for me, this is Dorion masking the DeBrincat loss by throwing two quarters (Kubalik return + Tank) onto the roster so people don't notice the missing one dollar bill.
I'm amazed how many Ottawa fans on Twitter see this as some major (long-term) roster improvement to offset DeBrincat.

Looks like the forward version of John Klingberg. Signing the most one-year money with a NTC to hopefully land with a contender at the deadline and then take your chances in free agency next year. He even had the mid-summer agent change.

Grab this guy wherever you can in fantasy!
In one year leagues at least, or leagues where you want to win this year.

This deal screams ‘Alexander Semin’ light it up in a one year contract to get overpaid on the next contract.
