And for a team that's selling a pending UFA, acquiring an MLBer with 3-4yrs of team control (Espy or Biggio) has to have some good value.

I hope it's Espy just so I can hold onto my Biggio signed jersey a bit longer. I have a Biggio and Pearson one that I got for less than the price of a jersey, but man I have tough luck with Toronto Sports memorabilia.

Heyman tweeted saying the Jays inquired about IKF from the Yankees, but went with DeJong. Then...he adds in that Bo Bichette isn't expected to be out too long. Only Bo news I've seen today.

There is a chance that we see a Verlander vs Scherzer AL Playoff game if Houston faces Texas.

Astros sent Drew Gilbert, 68th overall prospect (#1 in their system) and a 2nd prospect depending how much the Mets are going to eat off the Verlander deal.

And I don't get the Lindor fall off, but it's crazy to think $27m is like a fringe All-star salary soon. But he's also like 29yrs old.

    - - - Updated - - -

Orioles have made an offer for Cease.

    ---UPDATE---
The 2nd prospect is Ryan Clifford, Astros #4 prospect.

And wow, the NY Mets had a short window where there fans could get excited... and now do we see them head to many years of being bad again?

I think the Mets plan was to Pay for immediate success, but try and back fill their somewhat bad prospect pool (a couple of years ago). This was a smart trade deadline by the Mets to get out of 2 older pitchers, but gain some 2024-2026 possible debut prospects.

With the return the Mets got for Verlander, you'd have to think they're paying for a ton of his deal. So it's not like they aren't willing to pay money, but they're essentially buying prospects now.

DeJong is a worse hitter than Biggio but his defense is outstanding. Downgrade from Bo at the plate but an upgrade on the field. Once again management looking at the defensive side.

Hey sorry I was listening to a live stream of a couple of YouTubers who had their chat open and people were telling them to look at all these insiders twitter accounts. That's how I was so quick lol.

Then I got home and went for like an hr walk and ate dinner and missed the last 2hrs.

I still do not agree with the Jays not picking up a bat, but I guess they are pushing defense still and the bats out there aren't the best defensively.

I get the stance, but I feel like they over corrected from the playoffs debacle.

The DeJong acquisition I think is bigger than people think as they need a 3B replacement next yr as Chapman is a UFA. And they got cash with him, so they aren't paying the whole deal. So right now, your INF next yr is DeJong-Bo-Bigg/Espy/Whitt-Vlad. Now their batter situation next yr is really just an OF and a DH. And Varsho can play CF, so it's not like they have to get a CF to replace KK.
