I'd probably move back a position or two, but I don't think would matter much. Picking fifth or sixth instead of fourth would likely give me a similar player, but the same goes for round 2. I could move back to the turn, but I don't think I'd gain by it, not much anyway.

Looking at the first two rounds of our draft, I think the only one who is ahead is pmorrow with McDavid and Crosby (now with EK on the team too). The rest are pretty much interchangeable in terms of strength, some may be safer and some have higher upside, although it's tough to tell with goalies mixed in. Matthew Tkachuk + Ovi could be great if they hold up, Matthews and Shesterkin too, but I don't see Rantanen + Sorokin being much behind them and they seem to be a safer duo. Stützle + Dahlin looks great too.

    2.10 Brayden Point
I wanted high points with this pick. This guy does that, though I'm thinking there were better options.

    Strength: Goals, Assists, PPP,
Weakness: Block Shots, +/- (last few years)
Bonus: He lives up to his name
    Round Winner: Dahlin pick
Round Loser: Who ever goalies don't live up to expectation

Hard to pick a round winner or loser here.

Four goalies taken in the first two rounds this year, and all of them were picked in the second round.
Last year you had Shesterkin 6th overall, Vasilevskiy 12th, Saros 21st, Markstrom 27th, Andersen 28th, Hellebuyck 29th in the first two rounds. Markstrom and Andersen ended up bad picks, both late second round picks.

I expect to find the goalie round loser in the 3rd round. The second round goalies for this year seem very safe.

What better options than Point did you have in mind? I see only Crosby, if anyone.

Ya Crosby was someone I was thinking of now that Karlsson is on it (I didn't know that then though, but was banking on him to PITTS when I picked him)

Zibanejad would have been another option. Similiar stats, little less Goals but more Assists. The biggest difference being Zibanejad having a much better +/- projection.

Absolutely agree that the Dahlin pick was the winner. I’d hoped for him to fall just a few spots more - honestly changed my whole draft strategy. I see him as a Tkackuk on the blue line, filling every stat category. And I feel Crosby has opportunity to make his 19th consecutive point-per-game season.

But I suck at this “no goalie” thing….

Love Dahlin but not sure I agree with him being best pick that round. Great pick, don’t get me wrong, but in terms of value Josi 10 picks later at 27th is the better pick.

If Josi can play near 80 games then I would agree on... but I see him missing games here and there and his totals will suffer because of that.

It’s not like he’s a bandaid boy. He hasn’t missed much time over the years.

That said, for next year I would not put even money on Dahlin surpassing Josi in fantasy points in this league. Dhalin is nowhere near Josi in SOG, Blks and even points is iffy. Only Hits the exception. We’ll see I guess.

In the last 4 years Josi has been 50/50 of less than 70 gp or being 80 gp. He is now another year older.
The difference between the two is not much so that 10 games makes a significant difference.
When selecting my top tier players I put stronger emphasis on them playing most of their games, especially in this type of league.
I will take on more risk with GP as the draft progresses.

I also project Dahlin to finish with a better +/-

Ok Invictus, I’ll take that little side bet (for pride) - I’m going Josi over Dahlin for total fantasy pts in our format this year.

Oettinger (my pick) was a pick I hated making... but goalies were going to run 2nd/3rd rounds... and he just feels like the best volume starter in the weaker (Western) conference.
But man... I hate picking near end of round (9-14) for exactly this reason, you're probably going to HAVE to take a goalie in round 2... or watch 20 picks go by until your 3rd round pick.
Hated this... but had to take first goalie off the board.

Dahlin easily topped Josi last year for this league and I expect the same for next year. I'd take Dahlin over Makar too.
Josi is a good pick, but I'm not sure I'd take Draisaitl + Josi over Stutzle + Dahlin for this league.

You could be right - but chances are very very high, imo, that Draisaitl/Josi handily beat Dahlin/Stutzle.

Josi played 67 games, of course Dahlin beat him. And if he plays 13 less games again of course the result will be the same. I’m banking on relative health here.

I hear you man - in my case it was Ovi and Shesterkin and I may live to regret that.

I have Ovi/Ullmark - might have had Shesterkin and one of Meier/Stammer or Fox/Hamilton.

    Hindsight 20/20!

    Okay let's go!
May the least injured player win

Of the goalies selected this round I think Vasi and to a lesser extent Sorokin have the greater chance to disappoint.
