I really had trouble deciding between two players with my first pick. I imagine the other player will get picked soon now, and I will regret this move instantly.

Tkachuk was the other one I was thinking of.. Banking on Pasta getting more goals which is what I look for at this point in the draft.

I feel okay with Rantanen, but they're all pretty even, I think.

I never expected to have the choices I did at #7 - I had Matthews ranked at 4. But that’s why we all play the games we do.

I'd love to say I have ranked list done. I'm still waiting for Yahoo to open

Matthews at #7 seems like a good bet given the contract year. I just thought that Rantanen would have it a bit easier in the West and a bit more peripherals.

I realize its a bit of a bold move. My logic was that Brady hits a lot more. Though Matthew had more points and a better plus/minus last year. They were pretty equal in shots and penalty minutes. I'm betting on Ottawa and Brady taking another step forward this year and Brady increases his point totals, while still shooting/hitting a ton, and taking lots of penalties.

This draft is a fair bit different than my usual one, so this year may be a learning experience towards next year lol.

M Tkachuk at #8 according to list. I thought he'd have some injuries going into next season, but seems I was mistaken.

Yeah, I tortured myself between Matthews and Matthew (T.) for maybe 3 minutes. I’d expected to be picking between Pasta and a Tkackuk-man. But regardless of the order, the top-eight look solid. Nobody picked Gary Bettman.

Yeah Matthews was very solid value at 7, M Tkachuk maybe a tad later than I expected given what he did last year.

Let’s see what Lord does at 9! I’ve got a good idea I think…

This draft is a fair bit different than my usual one, so this year may be a learning experience towards next year lol.

This is an early draft, and I haven't even started prepping anything yet (until after the 8th). So what's brought up is to learn.

I thought Matthew was an easy consensus over Brady, but loppantorkel's also seems (to me) to put Brady ahead.
I was debating between Matthew and Pasta, Brady wasn't in the conversation - so wanted to field it.

Maybe I should have just gone with Gary Bettman...

I only thought M Tkachuk would drop due to injuries, and I'm not sure about Florida the upcoming season, but I claim some ignorance on this. I managed to luck out on M Tkachuk last year and he is the top draft pick according to Fantrax in this setting. I tried to get some opinions about it before the lottery and draft - the obvious top three went first as expected - but no interest or response on that.

I still think M Tkachuk will have a hard time repeating his previous year.
