Projected rankings for the 23/24 season on Fantrax seems to be updated now. I still don't get how M Tkachuk is ranked ahead of McDavid just based on higher PIMs and slightly better +/-. McDavid leads Tkachuk in 7 out of 9 categories. Most will probably take McDavid before Tkachuk in a draft, but this is just one example where things seem more obvious. How trustworthy are these rankings? Does anyone see M Tkachuk as the more valuable player for winning?

There was a team with the leftovers last year. Is anyone interested in seeing how a team which only autodrafted as a regular player would do (in between instead of leftovers)? Since we don't do any adjustments during the season, it would be interesting to see if I should just autodraft my teams in my other drafts, and come out on top compared to my own customized list... Just a thought.

Just to make sure I fully understand, there is no cost to this league correct? and do we have to have a fantrax account? Is it possible to see the projected rankings without one?

Yes, welcome! It's a free league, you don't need a fantrax account to see the teams and standings no. The link in the original post will have the standings. I still need to adjust the teams as it's copied over from last year, but there you will be able to see standings and click onto individual teams to see rosters.

Awesome! I'm looking forward to the draft. I'll go spend some time looking at last years to get a better strategy for this years.

Ok, I’m ready. Got my draft order set. I generally set my own, without using Fantrax rankings, or Dobber’s, on NHL.com. Yeah, I might look at those last two, but for this draft it’s just intuition - a watching what all you smarter players do. Hint: Alex Galchenyuk didn’t make my list.

Being in the middle sucks. You miss the top tier of players.
You don't get to make your two picks then forget about things for awhile while everyone else is picking...

So I'll end up picking 6-8 now...

I like the middle.

too many times when I am close to the turn I try to get ‘cute’ and guess who the players between the turn and me will take.

and if I have two players that I want. I might take the one I want less because I think the other one is more likely to make it back to my pick…

the mind games I play within my own head when I am near the turn is all to real.

if I am in the middle - I take the player I want most each time and don’t overthink it.

I noticed that the fantrax is update with this years 14 teams, and that there is waiver wire claim order. Is that order a hint as to our draft order? or the draft order isn't set yet?

That order will just be the order of the way the teams were entered.

The draft order will be done on a random order generator by pmorrow.

I think the plan is to do that later on today.

If you pm your email address to pmorrow (and he sees it before he does the draft lottery), you will get an email of the results sent directly to you from the random draft order generator.
