Happy with my 3rd place in the standings.

I don't ever like paying up for goalies.
I remember considering taking Hart late - but didn't want to risk it with the uncertainty of whether he was going to be playing.

And my first round pick needs to keep playing like he has the last couple games to help me out here!

Hill finally back and Sorokin has Patrick Roy as coach now. Things should improve now. That Nichushkin pick turned sour though :-/
Up to this point Nichushkin is well ahead of Debrusk but you made a good call on the games and the type of league -

5 weeks left and LotR has a good 34p lead, but will the nerves get to him..? That Demko injury was untimely.

LOL…not nervous at all. VAN only plays 2 games over next week and Demko has provided value over his draft position. He likely would have seen a reduced load in preparation for the playoffs anyway. At worse it’s only going to hurt on his volume categories.

This may have been my most "middling" draft of all-time.

Season is nearing its end and it's time to review one's predictions and picks.

You were right. Dahlin never reached new heights and Stützle fell back points-wise. Draisaitl/Josi was a much better combo this year.

The Rantanen-Nichuchkin combo turned out slightly ahead of the Pastrnak-Debrusk combo.

Wallstedt did play a few games, but he likely wouldn't have helped Invictus for goalie stats.

The bet on Sorokin and Hill as sole goalies didn't work out as well as I had hoped. Sorokin having worse stats compared to Varlamov was unexpected and shows how unpredictable this position is. Hill being injured for half the season was a slightly more predictable and a gamble which didn't pay off. Not a total failure in strategy, but not a success either. It could have worked out with a bit of luck.

    The misses:
Jakob Pelletier - final pick - didn't play much
Filip Chytil - next last pick - 10 games played
Viktor Arvidsson - drafted 16th round - injured most of the season, may get around 17 games in total
Jesperi Kotkaniemi - 21 round - a gamble he'd turn it around, but ultimately a bad season
Juuso Valimaki - 19th - same as above, hoped for more
Rasmus Sandin - 15th - same as above
    Pierre-Luc Dubois - 6th - major disappoinment for where I picked him

Ilya Sorokin - 2nd round, 25 pick - Charlie Lindgren is ranked above

    Greatest hits:
    Sam Reinhart
    Wyatt Johnston

Bouchard, Hagel and Ekholm were good picks too.

Not sure what the outtakes are from this season. The strategy to avoid injury prone players should be smart, but tougher to implement. As far as goalie strategies go, I'm not sure. Did anyone learn anything?

    edit:

Also Rans with some nice picks - Macelli, Moore, Palmieri, Skjei and the goalie group (Kochetkov, Allen, Blackwood and Kahkonen) turned out pretty well. Fence swing Niklas Backstrom not so much!

Congrats LordoftheRinks! Some great drafting with top scores in almost every category. Impressive score for duntroon68 too, given the low amount of games played.

Again - fun league/draft. Thanks for commissioning(?) it!

This mock has become one of my favourite things.

I’m not sure anyone would have said, before the season, that my goalie team of Talbot, Daccord, Varlamov and Francouz (0 GP) would keep me in it. I had optimistic dreams but they matched my best hopes.

LOTR, however, led in both skater and goalie points overall, as he will do, and that was that. Second win in three years, I believe. Congratulations.
