    Default Connor Bedard expectations

Hey everyone, just wanted to see what everyone's thoughts were on Bedard going into year 1. It's going to be exciting seeing him play in the show! I am going to try and get tickets as soon as I can vs Edmonton .

With possible linemates of Hall and Reichel?

    GP: 82 G: 42 A: 37 PTS: 79 SOG 360

I haven't really dove deep into players yet, am planning on working on my draft sheets here soon but that's roughly the expectations I had for him going into year 1. What are your guys thoughts? Thanks.

By all accounts he has Auston Matthews' shot and has very good playmaking ability. He is going to a team with not a ton of talent, but he will also have the puck a lot of the time when his team has it whether that's 5 on 5 or man advantage.

I project 37 goals, 45 assists for 82 points in 78 games. SOG somewhere around 3.5.

I have high expectations for this kid. If he has a rough rookie season and doesn't hit big numbers that's okay, I will still think he will get there as he grows.

A rough rookie season might open the window for a buy low opportunity.
I also have high expectations for him, but might be hard to meet off the hop with the team he's on.

25-30 goals, 55-60 points (assumes he plays full season).

This is more like it - I’d even say closer to 20-25 G and 25-30 A. The 80-pt predictions are a bit pie on the sky imo. EDIT: I meant 35-40 assists, total 55-65 pts.

i like your point predictions but i think they going to be a little bit more assist heavy and i also think you are way to high on SoG, im thinking more around 250 at best i full season. I also think he will miss 10-20 games as this is a mens game now and i can see him being banged up...

    I'm expecting 27 goals, 35 assists, 62 points.
Any more is icing on the cake.
    Next season probably 70+.
3rd year 80+ (assuming lineup changes or prospects making the team and contributing).

    ^I like this projection.
I think Vegas (betting agencies) are going to have his O/U in the mid-to-high 60s (because people are optimists and love to take the OVER).
But I think low-to-mid 60s is more reasonable.
I think Taylor Hall is actually going to be a pretty solid player to click with.

    32g,36a = 68pts, for me.

I definitely expect Bedard to be a great player but I'm not sure about the whole 2nd coming of McJesus stuff. I think it's way too early to be making claims about 3-4 years out. What are the odds of having 2 McDavids in the same era? Probably not great. But the expectation thus far seems to be that at some point within his 1st 5 seasons 100 pts/season will be his floor.

Chicago is god awful right now. 60 pts seems like an ok expecation for this season but let's not get carried away with expecting an automatic skyrocketing trend in his production.

    I look at Matthews 69pts
    and McDavid 45 in 45
    as year one ceiling

but considering who surrounds him, that needs to be tempered.
He doesn't have the Edm Taylor Hall, he has a lesser version.
he doesn't have RNH or Eberle or young Nylander/Marner to spread the love to.

60-65 would be a great 1st year considering the core around him
Anything close to point per game and his career ceiling might need an increase

I think the greater issue for CHI is that their offense out of their D stinks.
A team has to have defensemen that can flow the puck forward.
[I qualified Patrick Kane as having his worst season last year... rightfully... because of CHI's awful blueline puck-movers.]

It's very underrated part of team offense - what the D can contribute to the offense. Forwards alone are not enough offense.
That's going to be the hardest part of Bedard's progression - and its a part he's not in control of.

(Some of us have played on teams with inferior other positions/parts... you get this.)

Sneaky player for Chicago to consider targeting - look into adding Tyson Barrie from Nashville.
Barrie likes to qualify all the NHL-superstars as his close friends anyways!!! LOL - true.

I would be surprised if he gets over 50 points in his rookie season. He's not big nor is he a great skater which will make the transition to the pro game more difficult for him. He scored a lot of goals in junior on longish wrist shots. Most of those are not beating NHL goalies which is another negative for this season. Add these to the fact that Chicago is a terrible team and his linemates will be something like one-legged Taylor Hall (he has no functioning ligaments in one knee) and Taylor Raddysh and Chicago's d corps will be lucky to have 2 dmen who can make a first pass or any pass in the offensive zone and he's not going to be put in much of a position to light it up.

If I was betting man, he would not be my bet to win the Calder Trophy. Too many other older rookies who will have better chances to put up points this season or goalies who could be starters on potential playoff teams.
