Labanc or Barabanov for me, but I suspect "the people" will want Zagina, which wouldn't be the worst!

I am more curious about Labanc, but Zadina's signing makes this an easy one to pick.

    I voted Zadina...
But I'm not sure how William Eklund is left off the options.

Eklund is still covered in the prospects report.

To be honest, I voted Jacob Peterson because...
... I have no idea an NHL player was named like that.
... and that he'd lost out because of the Zadina signing.

Had to FrozenPool him to discover who he was.

(But to nobody's surprise, it's Zadina who'll win here)

Yeah... the Peterson mention is curious for me.
San Jose finished last season passively tanking while ensuring their key prospects didn't log 10gp to burn a year of ELC.
So a guy like Peterson got more ice time than he would ever deserve. 2ppg and some token assists. Meh.

He was intriguing - played 12 games exclusively with Hertl and either Labanc or Couture. First PP unit, 8 points in 11 games. For some reason the Sharks really wanted to see if there was offense there, and discovered there was. Great Worlds, was solid in the SHL when he was only 21 (turns 24 in a week). The 'lowdown' is meant for players you may not know as much about and, well...

You can find a thing or two online about Zadina...but how hard do you have to look to get opinions on Jacob Peterson?

^NHL GMs/coaches do this all the time... the put some "new on roster" inferior player on top line - yes - to see if they can keep NHL pace.
It can really help with a player's confidence and the way they feel as part of their new lockerroom.

Long term, it may not be a realistic option.
We see this one the first day of NHL training camps all the time.

SJ's top line last year was:
Hertl taking out Meier & Labanc

So when Timo Meier comes off roster on Feb 26th, in trade to NJ, then the team avoids shaking up entire roster by doing plug-and-play with new incoming player.
Hertl went out with Zetterlund & Eklund first (early-mid March)...
But SJ avoided burning Eklund's 10th game by moving him back to AHL...
And that - my friend - is how Jacob Peterson came into his minutes on that line.

William Eklund SJ: March 4th-March 18th
Jacob Peterson SJ: March 23rd-end of season

I too would’ve liked Peterson to win this. I feel like Zadina has had a lowdown on him for every year since being drafted. Peterson is the combination of intriguing and unknown that lowdowns are most helpful for.

You’re right, the Sharks were one of the other 31 teams that didn’t claim him off waivers, so this his first go around with the Sharks after signing him for league minimum and a two-way deal. *Please note that some parts of my post may have misinformation in order to strengthen my opinion on people that don’t do their own research.
