Man... just like that, one of the original five.... gone.

Essentially replaces Zucker & once again Vegas dumps to open space for another move/signing.

Oh man... like... I know it's a business... but - what a hit for Reilly just a couple weeks after the big high.
That said - these (VGK) guys still gonna party for the next few months as VGK-ers... Reilly too.

It will look better by summer's end - when he's done making moves

For one, expect Granlund to be moved or bought out.

I do think it'd a good pickup. This isn't fantasy hockey where they lose all value at 30 years of age. Believe it or not, players in the NHL still are productive at age 32.

I also don't think this is the last move Dubas makes as he moves pieces.

$15M? Dubas hasn't had this much to spend in a summer for five years. That's 2.13M per player.
He's going to revel in the financial freedom.

My comment had nothing to do with fantasy hockey. Players are not as productive as they age.

Erik Karlsson & Joe Pavelski would disagree
both set career highs in points after the age of 32

Toffoli - essentially the same age as Smith just crushed his career high.
    it's 2yrs remaining... not six.

there's enough outliers & exceptions out there to conclude Reilly Smith can continue to produce at a 50pt pace through ages 33 and 34.

Enough outliers and exceptions to fall within two or three standard deviations of the mean.
Which would place them under the normal distribution of a curve.

we're also talking a 32 year old, not 37 year old hockey players - where the true outliers would exist

I agree Smith is just fine for a 3rd and can still be productive. The argument that this is a bad pick up because he’s too old is not one I agree with. Your examples were just not cogent in my opinion. Smith isn’t going to score 100 pts at age 33 like Karlsson or 77 at age 38 like Pavelski. They don’t apply. Everything else you said I agree with.
