it's damn tempting to get Zegras in a dynasty but you don't know what type of contract he's got coming. Nonetheless, Pyotr is Carolina's only goalie under contract going into next season. Carolina has been eliminated year after year so I don't see them resigning Andersen but maybe Raanta. This puts him in a 1A/1B scenario as soon as next year and the starter in two IMO. Despite not knowing what's in store for Trevor's deal I would take the risk and make the deal.

Small addition to Luigi's comment: CAR has signed G Yaniv Perets recently. He'll most likely start in the AHL, but his track record is quite impressive so far and he's basically the same age as Pyotr. I wouldn't rule him out as an option for the Canes in the second half of next season...

Saros is a top end goalie, so it's risky. However, the forward upgrade is huge over some of those guys you have.

I'd keep Saros. There's talk of him being shipped out of NSH (they apparently almost traded him to LA at the deadline). Goalie situation is still unclear in CAR. It should be an eventful off season with goalie movement so I would at least wait until that sorts itself out.

I like the Zegras+Kochetkov side. I'm a Kochetkov believer and my conservative expectation is that he will get 40-50 starts a year for the next four years with good percentage numbers, at $2 million per year. That's got real value. Saros is obviously the best on-ice player, but with two more years at $5 million with the specter of Askarov entering the chat soon, I think that in 2 or 3 years' time, Saros and Kochetkov will be giving the same neighborhood of value in the context of their cap number. If that's the case, you're getting Zegras for free.

If you're contending right now, then you'd want to keep Saros to maximize the last two years of his prime at his current number. But that's a decision you'll need to make.

I would do it. I love having flexibility at the G position in a cap league. G value swings so much from year to year or even month to month that it's best to keep your options open.

In this case, I'd view it as Saros for Zegras, which is a fair bet to make, and then you have Kotchetkov on a cheapo deal on an elite defensive team who at the very least is going to be a 30-game backup. You need to find another G to complement Kotchetkov.

All this said, in a 32-teamer goalies may be so scarce that you are selling yourself short. I know in 24-teamers they have become undervalued because of the abundance of tandem situations, but it's possible a sure starter in a 32-teamer would demand an even better offer or is perhaps the type of unicorn you should just never trade.

All I can say is that if you take this deal, you are rolling the dice big time it's a pretty gutsy move The bottom line for me is that Saros has huge value in a 32 team league and he's a a top 10 NHL goalie; your other goaltending options are totally undependable and as much as Kochetkov has potential and a lot of positive hype surrounding him, he too is seriously unproven and, if you are counting on him being the guy in Carolina next year you might be in for a big surprise and not a pleasant one. Trading Saros leaves you with very suspect goalie options and in your league format, the goalie scoring cats are far from insignificant and I can't see a team in your league having major success without a legit starting goalie. If you had another viable starting goalie to turn to then yes, this deal is indeed one I would accept. But, and it's a big but, you don't.

Ok guys, here’s the thing that swayed me to decline this. I’m the defending champ and trying to win the extra pot for dynasty prize, which is two championships in three years.

It is early in the offseason to make this move. Carolina is already talking about bringing back Anderson. The other GM also cancelled the offer and added Roy coming back his way. I could’ve easily negotiated back to his original offer, but I think it is best for me to keep Saros and his consistent starts and stats.
