Default How Much Should Crosby Cost?

Hey, just an odd question. It\'s a lot of opinion if anything.
    Cats are G, A, P, +/-, PIM, PPP, GWG
You dress: C, LW, RW, D, D, UT, UT, G per night.
20 man rosters with 10 man farm teams.

For our league, it\'s a bidding system.
    Salary Cap is $110

Sid the Kid is on his last year of his entry level contract. I expect to receive heavy RFA bidding next season.

But the question is...at what point does Crosby simply become too expensive to keep?

The pool has been weird at times...idea of prices.
Joe Thornton went for $12 this offseason
Jason Spezza went for $9.50 this offseason
Luongo went for $19.5 last off season.

I\'ve made a Crosby \"reserve\" for next season of $20. But is nearly 20% of my salary purely for Crosby simply too much?

And an interesting note. Ovechkin, Malkin, Crosby, Luongo, Price, and Lundqivst are all UFA\'s next season. Arguably, all the top fantasy players. I\'m really kinda planning to go for one of the goalies.

My centres currently are Roy ($4.25 for 4 years), H.Sedin longterm (4.5 for 4 years), Eric Staal ($9 for 1 year), Oshie ($3/1).

My goalie are Turco ($18 for 1 year).

I also own Heatley @ 16.5 for 3 years. I really don\'t think that I can afford to potentially grab a goalie, Crosby, AND keep Heatley. Probably 2/3. But not all 3.

    Thoughts?

Why don\'t you trade him for cheaper guys that are really good and tied up for a while?

Hard to say. 16.50$ for Heatly or 20$ for Crosby...I would rather the 20$ for the Kid.

If you decide to keep him for this year:
Price should go at about 15 I am guessing. There is probabaly going to be some stubborn betting going on for the #1 guy. If Crosby exceeds your budget let him go. And spend your money on the important places. Wingers and Goalies.

20% of your budget on one player is a lot, but if you have cheap enpough talent to go with him, you can afford to do it. Tying up 60% of your budget on three players would be suicide.

Personally, if the choice comes down to Sid at C or Heatley at a W, I\'d take Heatley. You already have very good talent at C already, and by trading away Sid before he hits RFA you could garner another piece of talent taht you can hold on to. Face it, if you are willing to move Crosby, you will have people lining up to grab him.

Identify the weakness on your team, and move Crosby to fix that. You may even find yourself in a position to still buy Crosby back next year.

    Just my $.02
    on fantasy hockey hiatus!!!
