    Default Svech

Is this guy ever going to find consistency or just tease for 3 months a year, and be below avg the rest of the time?

He does this every season it seems..

I get he's 22 turning 23, but it comes a point where a guy just doesn't hit his "potential".

This year: 24 pts first 23 games, 9 in past 16.

Last year: 11 in 8 in Oct, 11 in his next 19, then 28 in 22, then 19 in last 29.

He's my 3 year keeper, and I'm a contending team but would be nice to get more from him, as he goes MIA often and takes dumb penalties still..

    - Signed frustrated Svech owner

Matthew Thachuk busted out in a big way in Year 6, Svech is in Year 5, any hopes Svech will get better, even in the confines of a team that doesn't have big time scorers?

I think he puts it all together eventually but that being said I'd have no problem moving him if you get good value for him, as who knows when that will be. I wouldn't sell low on him though as you will most likely regret that down the road, but he is a tough own in a keep 4 as you want them to be as close to sure things as possible. I would think he still holds a lot of value to owners, especially ones looking at next year and not competing

Case and point, Carolina gets PP, they do nothing, then 2nd unit comes out and scores..

I'm contending even with Svech having a so/so year overall, but in a non-banger league, who would you target winger wise if you were to move him?

Not saying I'm going to but what sort of names? The other angle is I can trade him to get a new 4 yr guy, then if I keep a guy like Dubois I don't have to sign him to 4 years, could just do a shorter contract, but no rush either as I signed him long term..

It just gets annoying that he doesn't take over games, he just seems like a passenger a lot.

Tough to know what players you can get but in your settings I'd doubt you get a Marner type. Maybe guys like
Nylander, Hintz, Connor, Panarin, Stutzle. If I couldn't get a player around that Caliber, I'd just keep him and hope he becomes more consistent

Bigger/Physical forwards typically breakout at around 400 GP. Svech is at 323. If you give up on him at this point you will regret it. He has all the tools and the surrounding cast. If at the end of next year he’s still frustrating you maybe explore something. But not yet.

Lots of guys on here cite him as a guy whose merely very good and not elite. I'm not in that camp but that camp does exist so to speak...

Is my man ever going to wake up? He's been invisible for 2 months..

Carolina is so frustrating to invest in for fantasy.

Svech just strikes me as a guy who plays an immature game, still takes bad penalties and is more concerned with hitting guys and trying to score fancy goals.

If he wasn't a keeper for me he'd be a drop candidate, that's how bad he's been..

Seems you are a bit frustrated with Svech (:

I get that, but I also wonder if your expectations are unrealistically high? You a want to see him "take over games", but the hard reality is that there are very few players in the NHL that can consistently "take over games". Svech is not one of those I don't think, he is not elite. However, he is a high-quality fantasy asset and still developing toward PPG upside with very nice peripherals. If you want to move him fine, some names have been suggested, but if that doesn't work out it would be my guess that some more patience here will pay off in the not-too-distant future.

And this why I suggested to someone a couple months ago how I'd take Robert Thomas over Svech in a points-only league. I was in the minority but I stick with it. Obviously, points-only is the only type of league this applies to.
