I honestly don't mind the politics involved in this, it's just the loaded questions towards players that's annoying. I'm fine with other countries calling others out using sports as a microphone, I also think I'm in the minority in this though.

I can separate a player to the countries problem though, and I know that's where it gets dicey. You can ask a player a question about off-ice/field/pitch stuff but we've all heard some athletes talk...they aren't politicians, lawyers, or activists for a reason. It's not fair to them to push something they don't know/care about, but if a player wants to speak out on a subject, I'm all for it. Use your platform, but if you do you need to be prepared for backlash or punishment (Irving, Kanye are recently examples).

So ya for me, use your platform IF you want to (organizations, countries, players). Reporters/media pushing a platform isn't fair in most cases. I also don't think media pushing their platform by asking a player a question is the same though. If a reporter gets in front of a camera and owns the attention then ok different.

And I'm rambling and derailing lol.

Just like the world was looking to all the players to speak up about the horrors of Qatar like 2 weeks before the kickoff. The world had years to officially complain but dragged their ass and put it on the players.

Let the players play, as if they don't have enough pressure on them already. Follow the money and it's easy to see it's a FIFA thing.

    100% agree

Sports and politics should be separate. Not just this World Cup, but I hate it in any other sport too.

what a dramatic end. Absolutely incredible.

So happy for Tunisia, that's a massive win for that country, despite not advancing!
    Big upset for Denmark also!

    Amazing morning of soccer

Damn missed it. Good for Tunisia. So far the Mexico/SA is electric. Both teams going for it.

So far I am really off about Poland. No need for Lewandowski if you play the whole half in your end. How long before Argentina scores. I didn’t think that was a penalty, the contact happened after the bad header by Messi. Football gods on high alert there.

    Mex 2 SA 0

    Arg 2 Pol 0

with 30 mins to play both Mexico and Poland are tied in everything except cards. Poland has 4 yellows Mexico 7 yellows so Mexico would be out of it stays. All this hard work just to play France next round lol. What a way to be eliminated though. Methinks there’s more to come though, Mexico and Argentina looking for 3rd goals.

Some interesting games. Messi played a great game for Argentina. Too bad about the penalty miss but it was a solid strike and great save.

Yes, Argentina dominated that game, and where the hell was that Mexico team the other 2 games? Poland went through on having less yellow cards ugh. Germany are out… wow.

Wow, just wow! Another incredible finish today.

At one point it was Costa Rica and Japan advancong, which would have been historical.

These final matches in all groups have been super intense. Loving every minute of it.

More craziness in this World Cup with South Korea scoring during stoppage time against Portugal to get to the knockout phase.
It really feels like no football giant is safe in Qatar. To me, only Brazil has looked like a step ahead in their group... but let's see how that goes this afternoon.

They always fun to watch wish I could have seen the game.

Hopefully I can find a stream to watch the Brazil game at work.
