I kinda feel like the Jays have gone about this offseason as "we see the players available and the contending teams, and someone should drop to us" and aren't forcing themselves to overpay. Don't mind that idea as some of this spending this yr is insane.

So the top FA right now are:
    Correa
    Swanson
    Rodon
    JD Martinez
    Syndergaard
    Belt
    Justin Turner
    Eovaldi
    Longoria
    Aroldis Chapman
    Conforto
    Brantley
    Cruz
    Kimbrel
    Segura
    Will Smith (RP)
    Britton
    Pollock
    Gallo
    Knebel
    Benintendi
    Will Harris (RP)
    Adam Frazier
    Taylor Rogers (RP)

I wouldn't mind the Jays going after Brantley (LHB), Frazier (LHB), Conforto (LHB). For the relievers, I have no idea who's a value guy out there (Lugo, Newcoumbe?)

I think at this point, for the Jays to get the left handed bat they really want/need to replace Teo, it will come from the trade market. I dont see them going out for Brantley or Conforto now that they have Keirmaier. Kiermaier is a replacement for Tapia at best, which is all guys like Brantly and Conforto offer. I am not sure I really trust Kikuchi/White as the 5th starter so maybe another reclamation project to fill that 5th spot in the rotation in the bargain bin.

For the Jays, I won't hold my breath, but if a team wants to take Kikuchi (makes only $10m as a starter) for a nothing prospect, and the Jays re-sign Stripling to a $15m-$18m short term deal?

Manoah, Gausman, Berrios, Bassitt, Stripling, White, Pearson as their rotation with guys that can start in the BP (Pearson/White?). I don't trust Pearson obviously, but he was pitching as a starter in a winter league during the playoffs, so he's being strung out still for long innings.

As for a potential pivot if they don't like the outside market for OF help, Moreno was being teased in the OF last yr. So if they can't get something they like, there is at least an option that isn't putrid.

That's a good deal for SF for a 4th starter. Stripling had an excellent year last year for Toronto, but that's his first solid season in a really long time. I am not sure I trust him to do it again, but who knows. I am reading a lot of pissy people who dont understand why the Jays signed Bassitt for that amount but didnt bother to re-sign Stripling for this amount. Maybe they have a point, but I would rather have Bassitt.

Jays have 4 guys who will get to 160ip and no one will be shocked. I rather have the durability potential for the Jays considering they have no SP depth. And we'll all be happy when Bassitt is throwing ground balls right at Chapman (pretty sure Bassitt is one of the highest producing GB to 3B pitchers out there).

It's rumoured Rodon will receive around $200m on his deal

    Last yrs SP deals:
    Scherzer - $130m, 3yr (37yrs old)
    Ray - $115m, 5yr (30yrs old)
    Gauseman - $110m, 5yr (31yrs old)
    Stroman - $71m, 3yr (30yrs old)

Man, either last yr was a yr of SP steals, or the market completely reset this yr.

Tied with the largest guaranteed deal ever (no opt outs), Largest deal for a SS. Giants get their star. He's still only 28yrs old so he'll be 41 when it's done. Which is the same age as Bogaerts and deGrom when they're done their deals. 1yr older than Trea Turner, and 2yrs older than Judge. Honestly, this might be the best deal signed this yr when you also consider he didn't have a QO attached to him like Turner, Bogaerts, Nummo, and deGrom (even though it's still a ridiculous concept to me that someone is signed in their 40s).

Good on the Giants for this.

I'm convinced they've told Toronto they aren't signing deals like Albies or Acuna. They don't need to sign big money deals now as their families are rich, no one is needing money from that end. They can sit and wait and get $40m a yr for 13yrs ($520m)

Both are FA in 2026, a 13yr deal in 2026 takes them to 2039. They'll be 41/42yrs old when it expires.

Just a side note, we're talking about all these deals, and one of the best closers in the league in Romano is 30yrs old and isn't a FA until he's 34yrs old. He won't have the chance to sign a big deal essentially.

Twins offered Correa a deal close to 10yr, $285m. Twins will turn their attention to Dansby Swanson.

Twins are apparently all in on Rodon

    Mets pursuin Profar.

RedSox pursuing Syndergaard, Phillies still interested.

Dodgers are expected to go after Ohtani next offseason, explaining their "passive" offseason.
