If the NHL didn't juice the McDavid draft lottery (and the fact he went to Edmonton, away from any major media market, demonstrates that it did not), then it is never going to happen.

If the NHL does/did have some internal deviants at play, the following teams should not get Bedard:
1. Chicago - for all things Kyle Beach and (to a much, much, MUCH lesser degree) also for the incredibly obvious TankCity work by Kyle Davidson. That couples with them having multiple cups for TankCity work 15+ years ago. (P.Kane, Toews drafts)

[As for the OP's question of who "NEEDS" him the most... Chicago - obviously... even Arizona has a C1-Cooley and C2-Geekie in place with Guenther, Keller as high-end complimentary wings. Chicago has almost nothing beyond Nazar (a first line wing or C2, IMO), Korchinski, S.Jones, and Reichel. They "need" a C1 bad. But anybody that advocates it would be "good for the league" is clearly light on ethics and morality. Chicago needs to absolutely stink for... about 10 years, IMO... to pay off the Beach debt.]

I will find a way to cheer for Bedard even if he lands on a team I don't particularly like. Why do I feel like the Blackhawks will get him because so many people don't want it to happen. Hope it's a team I don't have any strong feelings about like San Jose or Anaheim.

That draft - for me, fantasy-wise - went as badly as it could.

In keeper league #1 - already own the #1 overall pick, wanted Bedard to land anywhere but Chicago... statistically.
In keeper league #2 - matched with wherever CBJ picks, I slide down to pick #3. (Well, it could've been worse, Chicago could've won and somebody could've jumped to #2, landing me at #4... so... not the "worst possible" outcome...)

Brutal just brutal. How many times is Chicago going to fail upwards? How many times will they be rewarded over and over again for playing inept hockey and being run by inept management?

The most egregious part to me is that they had the gall to trade Debrincat and Dach as part of this "plan". Hell they even brought in a ringer goalie to tankharder when it looked like Soderblom might steal some wins. Its one thing if you don't have much of a roster to ice and don't want to waste resources surrounding it with immediate talent but to make moves tat are overtly bad cause you have a bone for Bedard??!! I feel sick..

One things certain the next time Bettman insists teams aren't tanking in the league- that they're not incentives to do exactly that- this is getting memed!

I know its a lottery and I know why its in place but...

This is just a sad day for hockey...
