I get it, you're optimistic, but you need to get realistic and curb your enthusiasm. Last year was his best offensive season that I can find online, anywhere as far as total point production goes. He had a couple good years in college if looking at ppg, but as a pro, he has yet to prove he can score.

No, who said I was comparing them? Ghost was just brought up as an example of a dman who can put up points on a bad team, that’s all - someone challenged that premise. My prediction (admittedly optimistic) was for 46, not 50. And yes Ghost is more offensively gifted than Matheson.

But Matheson definitely has the chops to put up 40-50 given lots of ES and PP time. Regardless of being less prolific than Ghost.

Yeah no worries man, thx for the input. Will be interesting to see when this comes out end of season. A bit annoying that he hasn’t played a reg season game yet and he’s already day-to-day…

i always respect your comments but i think with this one you setting your expectations way to high and then you defending anything negative about Matheson.

I personally agree he is due for career year but i dont think its monster year...i think he will be slightly better than in the past but he isnt a stud D and never will be and he will play on pretty bad team..

Fair comment. I totally accept criticism of my take and negative feedback on Matheson’s forecast. As I said it’s definitely optimistic. Maybe 46 points i’d say too optimistic, I’ll adjust it down to 41.

I'd agree that he has a career year coming, but I honestly don't see him breaking 40 points. I think he ends up in the 34-38 point range even with increased TOI + PPTOI.

Matheson out 8 weeks with an abdominal muscle strain. Career year might have to get put on hold until next year?

I think he can hit 50. 46 is a much better projection though and if you're drafting him where the 3oish point dean are going I think you're in great shape!

If he dont get healthy, he's not even going to hit 20. LOL! I read he's out at least 8 weeks.

    Update on Matheson.

First, from the Ramblings today: "Matheson has been great since the all-star game. In those 12 games, he has 11 points, plus-eight, 31 shots, 17 hits, 22 blocked shots and two power-play points. He’s averaging 24:35 minutes per contest during that time and is on the top power-play unit. Matheson has been great all season, but has been limited to 30 games due to various injuries. He’s not in any danger of losing his prime spot, and even though Montreal is a team that will continue to struggle, Matheson should continue to produce."

And overall now, here are his numbers:

    29 games, 5G 14A 70SOG 40Blks +7
    (prorated 14G 54pts 198SOG 113Blks +20)

And it's not just on paper, he has looked stellar since coming back from injury.

I still think Matheson was a great bet to be producing like this, from the get-go. Perfect landing spot for him and perfect timing, having spent those early years developing in Florida (with lots of rough spots) and then Pittsburgh. He's going to be a vital cog in the wheel as the Habs emerge from the rebuild, as he's still young for a Dman.

    Petry 2.0

He plays better than he did with his previous team

    Has career numbers

Next will be Matheson with red eyes

Then we will see a figment of him the following season

Jokes aside, I’m hoping he can be a staple on that blue line for a few years

yes could be bit closer if it wasnt for injuries on few players but still, you need to stay on the ice to produce....
