Re: 16 team h2h fantrax dynasty (premium fantrax, otherwise free) has 2 openings
Hello folks,
I joined this league last year and I can assure you that it works.
It's not a "traditional" league, but your fortunes are not too closely tied to your designated NHL franchise. Chicago won the title last year.
If you're considering the league, don't get fixated on the fact that you need to have 6 players from your designated franchise.
Over the course of the season, 95% of your skater adds and and drops will be just like in a traditional league.
Goalie management is somewhat different (but. in any hockey league, goalie management is a prime issue.)
The commish chats often and usually answers questions promptly (especially early in the season).
The goalie rule works well. Goalies are not completely depleted like in other leagues.
There are always several backup goalies on decent teams that are available.
Available goalies right now (before our mixed draft for prospects and veterans begins) include Georgiev and Francouz, Merzlikins, Vejmelka, Varlamov, Matt Murray, Blackwood, S.Skinner, Greiss, Wedgewood, Montembeault, Lindgren and Halak.
In almost all leagues, managers have to pay attention to whether their goalies are starting that night. Well that's true in this league.
Last year, I had Saros as my #1 goalie and Cam Tolbot as my 2nd.
I also had Ville Husso who had minors eligibility until April 2 (well into the playoffs and past the trade deadline).
So on April 2, when Husso reached 51 games of NHL experience, I had to cut a goalie loose.
The Dallas franchise above needs one more Dallas player as his Dallas count fell to 5 after Klingberg signed with Anaheim as a free agent.
This can be done through trade or by adding a free agent (veteran or prospect). Available Dallas players include Radek Faksa, Colin Miller, Wedgewood, Khudobin and some prospects such Ty Dellandrea, Joel Kiviranta and more recent Dallas draft picks.
