If you are not looking to compete, I would do it. I would also keep Boldy when you trade Thomas.
For a points only 15 team Keep 8 (plus 30 minors), where I'm NOT looking to compete this year (the lower down the standings the better), would you give Robert Thomas to get Shane Wright? My keepers without Thomas would be Hintz, Batherson, Laine, Dahlin, Keller, Oettinger, Nylander, and one of Hall/Seguin/Bjorkstrand/(Boldy if he plays 58 games more more). I've got lots of room in my minors for Wright, and wouldn't have to drop anyone good. Too high a price? A good chance to get a top young prospect? I can't decide. Any thoughts?
Update: I did a straight swap - his Wright for my Thomas. Moving Thomas A) makes me worse this year (better chance at Bedard), B) opens up a keeper slot for Boldy (needed if he plays at least 58 games), and C) gets me Wright. A bit of an odd situation but with only 8 keepers and THIRTY minors, I can keep Wright easily for a couple years. Thanks for all your help everyone!

I mean he's obviously competing if he has 3 of the Top 5 players in a 12-man league lol. How does that even happen?

I don't expect Wright to be better than a pt/gm which is what Thomas is right now. Keep Thomas.

I’m not sure Thomas is point a game guy but wright is miles away… I would keep Thomas as well in points only.

For me this is an easy slam-dunk, do-it... do-it-NOW sort of trade:
(ESPECIALLY since you added the context that you are not looking to compete this year)
You could keep: R.Thomas
or
You could keep: Boldy, S.Wright, and have an increased shot (via lesser team) at Connor Bedard
I mean... honestly... this is easy.
I'm sorry. I didn't read the OP thoroughly enough and just focused on the title. So really this is Wright/Boldy for Thomas with Boldy replacing Thomas as a keeper and Wright going in the minors. I agree with making that trade. In a vacuum, I take Thomas over Wright quite easily but Boldy has a ton of upside and might be pretty close to Thomas.

Not a huge Wright fan (I like Thomas better in a pts only) but for the reasons P7 gave, I'd do the deal for Wright. I'd actually try get someone else aside from Wright but that's just me. Who else does he have for prospects?

I don't think the team he is speaking about in his post is that team with McDavid, Matthews, and Draisaitl, which I agree how does that happen, but because he said in his post his keepers would be Hintz, Dahlin, Batherson, Laine,Keller, Oettinger, & Nylander it isn't that team.

He also has Slaf. Should I try or him too? Maybe offer Hintz for Slaf or something? Seems like at the end of the season I'll be able to fill those 8 keeper slots I'd be "vacating" this season.

This is definitely the right framing, and helped me make my decision. Thanks!
I like this trade for a team rebuilding. Thomas will be more valuable this year. In two years, Boldy should be rounding into form and the gap between Thomas and the others lessens, perhaps significantly. Three years down the road when Boldy and Wright are producing this trade is going to look pretty good. It will be a wait however and there is risk, Thomas is proven, both Boldy and Wright, well, not. Still, I think it's a solid gamble.
