I don't think finalizing before pre-season makes sense. Still a lot of moves to be made during and after pre-season. I think similar timing to last year would be my vote.

It took us about a week to draft.
My thought was that there can be lots of movement and possibly injuries during preseason.
This could lead to an unfair advantage arising. Say someone invested into the New York Islanders and then suddenly Rick DiPietro goes down on a long injury. Highly unlikely - even shocking, but then others can adjust to stay away from NYI a little longer.

The week prior doesn't have much player movement.

If this is for the NHL lock draft - it is set up in Fantrax and players are being added to teams as we go.

My only input is I think we should aim to have our picks finalized prior to preseason games starting which is ~Sept 23rd.
