There's definitely a ton of value in this setup having as many ELC contributors as possible, but I'd take the gamble on Byfield's pure upside because there's no certainty in Neighbours + 1st either.
Points league, full dynasty, Cap $82.5m, 12F 6D 1G and 4 bench, 27 prospects spots, 32 team league.
Scoring is points, G and A are 1, hits, blocks and shots are 0.1
Would you give Jake Neighbours and a 14th overall pick in the draft this year for Byfield? There are some free agents that might get picked early (vejmelka or however you spell it, etc) so this pick will likely be the 10th-14th best valued guy from this years draft.
Hits being counted helps Byfields value, no idea really about neighbours or how to value this years draft in comparison.
Given how deep the rosters are (very much in line with actual NHL rosters) and the salary cap, depth/non-elite guys have significant value if they're on relatively decent contracts.
Still, this seems to me to be a good value trade, just not sure if the Dobber community thinks neighbours is close enough to byfield for this to be too much to pay to get him.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks

I'd gamble on Byfeld, unless there are significant free agents that might alos work their way into the mix.

I'd do that trade and be patient with Byfield and his development.

I’d easily do that deal. Byfield will take some patience but should be a very good player when ready.

For the free agents, Of the guys I could afford that I could pick, it’s guys like Dyson Mayo, Brandon Duhaime, Kulak, Bortuzzo, Jason Peterson, Kiviranta, etc.
Some ok depth guys but no one that really changes this for my team if I take them, although with hits and blocks being worth something some of these guys (mayo?) may be fairly decent producers.
I've never been as high on Byfield as a lot of folks and I think you get the idea that you will have a bit of a wait to find out exactly what you have in Byfield but the price you would be paying makes this well worth taking a shot particularly in a roto format. Gm's are obviously losing patience in Byfield and his asking price is obviously heading south. I think Neighbours will be a player, but I believe we are liking looking at a middle six role for him and he too is years away. Byfield likely settles into a top 6 role and perhaps he lives up to his 2nd overall selection and becomes a first line forward. That 14th pick is not enough to make me change my mind. This is a low risk and potentially high reward opportunity for you. I'd take the deal.

Byfield, and i personally dopnt think you need to wait as long as others say.
I think he will start rewarding you this year with around 40 points and i would expect 60+ 2023/24 season.

Pretty easy accept on Byfield, is Neighbours really that highly regarded?
Agree with the consensus; gamble on Byfield's upside.
