but the real difference is when you killed my plan to nab the Bruins combo by swiping Ullmark just before I was picking next, when I already had Swayman, that turned out to be huge

I had Ullmark in 3 leagues, so it wasn’t random. :-)

And Ullmark was going to be my pick if neither of you took him. I was right after you ross, looking at the pick thread. That alone would have boosted me up the standings a few spots. A lot riding on that little segment of the draft in the end!

Stats are very interesting. I’ve had a huge lead in plus minus but now both you (+120) and duntroon (+117) are close (+125) - those stat changes between us top 3 are huge, can’t afford to let that go. But i’m only 1 hit behind you, and you’re only 18 sog behind me. Anything can happen. Need my guys to hit and shoot lots!

I remember worrying Ullmark would go - when he did 2 picks before mine (3 before yours), I went with plan B which I still think was a solid and even savvy pick by that point of the draft, but which turned out to be my very worst… CAL PETERSEN. Only good thing about his season for me is that he went down to the AHL so early and stopped killing my GAA/SV% stats! But that pick really hurt my Ws and esp Saves.

Looking at the picks between duntroon (1st in drsft order), me (3rd) and Dr Brad (5th), there were some very interesting inflection points. I see me picking Peeke (great for blocks where I rule, and solid hits, but not much PIMs) was solid but then Brad picks Luke Schenn 2 later, who I was considering along with Peeke, and he’s got HUGE hits and PIMs, which right now is a key separator for him.

Then there was a swing where I had Kolesar on my radar but picked Dylan Strome - Kolesar went to duntroon 3 picks later and I end up with Nick Paul - not a bad option but Kolesar probably gets me 3-4 pts more in the standings easy, which is all the difference now.

And best pick of the draft perhaps? With the very last pick of the entire draft, duntroon lands… HAMPUS LINDHOLM!

But I’m pretty happy where I landed terrific players like Robertson, Petterssen, Bratt, Fiala, Heiskanen, Killorn, and yes, Swayman!

I'm happy with the climb of my team, finishing at a nice 6th place, mostly through the goalie picks - Oettinger, Saros, F Gustavsson and Nedeljkovic. In the skater categories it fell apart mostly at the latter half of the draft. Should've gone with safer picks.

Remember to partake in this league next year. I found it an excellent warm up exercise for my one-year leagues (which I won!)
