Such a boring hire. I understand he usually has success early in his stint with a new team but he's so uninspiring.

I used to think DeBoer was a good coach when he first came into the NHL. But those thoughts have disappeared quickly. This past year in Vegas was a disaster. Yes, there were tons of injuries, but the way he handled the goaltending situation was horrific.
If the NHL is such a copycat league, I really don't get why teams keep recycling these coaches. Look at the teams who are having success. Tampa - Stevie Y have him his first NHL job. Bednar - first NHL job. Even Montreal with Martin St. Louis - first time coach (although jury is definitely out on how that will turn out but I'm optimistic). When was the last time when one of these kinds of coaches had any real success (IE win the Cup)?
I think if Trotz doesn't go to Detroit (and I don't understand why he would considering they're still in a rebuild and Winnipeg is his hometown), I'd assume the Wings give another coach their first NHL job and don't recycle someone old.
