Berggren vs Ty Nelson

Hey there!

Would you guys trade Berggren for Ty Nelson in my multicat league in sig?

I read Berggren is more a passer than a shooter…so he‘s probably more important in points leagues!
Nelson should put up better numbers in a multicat league?

I really don‘t know both of them very well?
Maybe one of you guys has more informations about them?

Berggren is almost to the NHL now and should put up decent point totals. If I was drafting him alongside the 2022 crop, he would go a lot higher than to Nelson.

I've done a 180 on Nelson this year - was really high on him at the start of the year with his pedigree and penchant for firing bombs from the point. Yet multiple scouts have echoed what I saw in the video clips too - great tools, not an ideal brain.

Think it was Elite Prospects that talked about his upside as being a #5-6 defensive defender IF he makes the show. (Does like to toss his relatively small body around and is a really solid defender for a small package).

I'm not in love with Berggren by any means, but I do think that I'd rather have him, as opposed to 5-year wait time on a "maybe" in Nelson cracking the roster and becoming fantasy-relevant with his multi-cat side.

That said - you're right, Berggren is likely only delivering on a couple of cats - not ideal in a multicat format - but if you can leverage a hot streak in the next 2 years from him at some point - think you'll end up with a better piece than Nelson imo.

Who would be the first players you would cut or try to put in a trade?

Considering Konovalov is likely going back to Russia with his NHL contract terminated, he's the easy drop. Looks like a solid minors system, though it's lacking a little in terms of the really high end skaters.

I'm liking Berggren here as well. I wouldn't be surprised if he sticks with the Wings next year, but certainly his wait to make an NHL team is considerably shorter than that of Nelson. Nelson seems to be a guy that the boom or bust label applies to but I highly suspect it will be years before we know which way that goes and given he is ranked any where from 20 to 50 in this years draft suggests to me that most scouts are not sold on him being an impact NHL player any time soon, if ever. A work in progress at best.

Your minors are OK, not great, but you have some nice pieces there that could well pan out nicely for you. I particularly like your prospect goalies, certainly Dostal and Tarasov are not too far away and both have excellent promise. I fully agree, Konovalov is very likely heading back to Russia and is clearly a drop for you.

What about Kaiden Guhle?
He is free in our league atm!

I know that i haven‘t got a real blue chip prospect in my minors…if i get a chance to trade for one,you guys will know it for sure,because i want your opinion

I'd absolutely pick up Guhle and drop Konovalov. Yager would be my second choice for a drop if Konovalov is not an option.

I think my goalies aren‘t the problem with Tarasov+ Dostal in thw pipe!

Personally wouldn't drop Yager at all - if indeed this is B.Yager (2023 elig). IMO he could be quickly become the F with the highest upside in your prospect list.

I think Berggren is more advanced than Ty Nelson at this point. I do think that Berggren is more of an assist type of player, but he will get his points. I would stick with him.
