There’s a video out there of a kid actor who’s thirteen going around to see if he can score a beer, cigarettes, a lottery ticket and a gun. Guess which one he was allowed/able to get. In that little study it was found that it was more dangerous for a 13 year old to buy a lottery ticket than get a gun. That’s mental health right there.
Call me old one more time.

Texas proposed a bill that would make it illegal to have a drag show around kids before it was illegal to buy an assault rifle the day of purchase.
Texas Republican Bryan Slaton rather your kids see rifles at a restaurant and schools than a person in drag because banning drag shows in the presence of kids is protecting your values and protecting kids. But gun legislation won't protect kids (this part isn't just Texas based, but it sure is quite the thing they're #2 in school shootings this yr).

My apologies to anyone offended by my response.
I thought it was pretty obvious sarcasm. (And there are some that didn't understand it that way)
The comment it replied to was about Texas and politicians - what is to be expected? Guns and drag are too completely opposite ends of the political spectrum in Texas.... not related at all.
They are going to pass 1,000,000 different laws before they even consider passing a law to ban guns.
Guns are part of the Texas identity....
Next time I will make sure to include this....
I havent read through this whole thread because it looks like its gone off the rails but I did see this quote
" I think I found the same article, or at least source: Public Mass Shootings: Database Amasses Details of a Half Century of U.S. Mass Shootings with Firearms, Generating Psychosocial Histories | National Institute of Justice (ojp.gov)
and in the same section it highlights that "In cases involving K-12 school shootings, over 80% of individuals who engaged in shootings stole guns from family members." The issue in the US, with respect to school shootings, is not gang bangers selling handguns to kids. Its stupid parents and loved ones not properly storing their firearms. I am in Canada. I own a gun. In order to own that gun I had to do a firearm safety course and submit some paper work to the RCMP etc. One thing that stood out in the course, was that if there is someone in my house who has not taken that course and received their Possession and Acquisition license (PAL), they are not allowed to have access to my firearm. It has to be locked up and the other people are not even allowed to know where the key is.
I am sure there are kids elsewhere in the world who have similar thoughts and inclinations. The difference with the US is that that same child can walk into mommy and daddy's room and grab a handgun from the nightstand and put it in their bag.
Respectfully, people aren’t pulling handguns from their parents and shooting up schools. They’re using far deadlier and much more unnecessary weapons.

I am going based on the article I referenced. Here is the full quote:
Notably, most individuals who engaged in mass shootings used handguns (77.2%), and 25.1% used assault rifles in the commission of their crimes. Of the known mass shooting cases (32.5% of cases could not be confirmed), 77% of those who engaged in mass shootings purchased at least some of their guns legally, while illegal purchases were made by 13% of those committing mass shootings. In cases involving K-12 school shootings, over 80% of individuals who engaged in shootings stole guns from family members.
