I think I do that… I love LC…
Which combination would you prefer for next season in a re-draft league? I’d love to get the 2nd overall and draft a Draisaitl or Matthews, not sure if it’s worth it to give up my 5 and 9 for his 2 and 14 though.
This is for the 3rd league listed in my signature. Thanks for any thoughts.

In a redraft after the top eight guys are gone, look at the top two guys on your list for pick nine. I can almost guarantee you that one of them will still be there at 14. Up at the top, the drop off from 2 to 5 is bigger. Yes you should still be getting one of Kuch, Hubs, or Makar at five, but anytime you can get a top three player you do it. The drop off lessens the farther into the draft you get.
McDavid
Matthews
Draisaitl
MacKinnon
Kucherov
Huberdeau
Marchand
Rantanen
Makar
M. Tkachuk
Kaprizov
Barkov
Ovie
Marner
Gaudreau
Here's a reasonable top-15.
What you're looking at is Matthews/Drai and Marner/Gaudreau for Kuch/Hubs and Makar/Tkachuk. It's reasonable but I'll take the 2/14 slot every time. There's also a slight chance that #1 overall goes one of Matthews/Makar/Vas/Shesty and you end up with McDavid.

(No I don't have a hockey problem...)
That's tough. I think at 5, you can still get someone like Mackinnon or Kucherov (assuming McDavid, Matthews and Draisaitl go top 3). Both of them have as high an upside but come with a slightly higher injury risk.
That being said, I think it's worth it because the drop off from 9th to 14th is minimal (you're getting an elite player regardless). I'd rather make sure I have either Matthews or Draisaitl and pick BPA at 14.
Thanks for all the thoughts so far!!

2 and 14 is way more valuable.
If you ask 10 guys to name their top 2, you will probably see at most 4 different names. If you ask people to list their top 9, you will see about 20 different names. Getting one of the top players is worth way more than the bump from 14 to 9.
I'd prefer 2 & 14. 9 & 14 are likely in the same tier. 2 & 5 are more likely not. I'd prefer it even ore in a faceoffs league with positional breakout at forward, but yours isn't one.

You win if you get 2 and 14... if he’s offering, try to milk it and add a later pick in your favour as well like 50-something for 60-something

Who you draft at 2 > who you draft at 5
Who you draft at 9 ~= who you draft at 14
It's def the move to get 2nd. Leagues are about getting as much high end talent as possible and the drop between 9 and 14 are personal opinion on drafting.

When you get a shot at a Draisaitl or Matthews you take it. Now with the 5th and the 9th selections that is nice as well and from where I sit if I were drafting that would probably land me either Mackinnon or Makar so I'd be extremely happy with that as well, but still when you get the opportunity to land a Matthews or Draisaitl because you already know McDavid will be gone that is the way you go.
I prefer the 2 and 15.
I would take Leon at 2 (though do not hate Matthews) and think there is incredible value to be had at 15.
As others have stated.

9 could be greater or less than 15.

I see this as a really tough decision. I'll throw out this idea: Do some poking around to see who the top 4 will be so you can see if you can nab Makar at 5. If you can, take Makar and 5, then still an elite forward at 9 (maybe Kaprizov will be there!...).

2 & 14 for sure.
Just look up the NHL's #2 and #14 point scorer in a few seasons... add those.
Then look up the NHL's #5 and #9 point scorer in a few seasons... add those.
Most of the time, the separation at 1-2-3 is huge... and then the pack tightens with every pick lower.
I'm pretty much taking 2&14 in any sort of sports league or any sort of draft with a typical (gaussian) scattering of statistics.
