Zegras trade (WILL REP)

Back again, after my Hamilton trade (thanks again to those that helped!)

Today is about Zegras, who was someone who I had no intention of trading coming out of a rebuild but lately there’s some offers that have me thinking maybe? Or maybe I’m just bored and Zegras is untouchable. Anyway, appreciate any thoughts and as always will rep where I can. Latest offer is this one and I’ve attached his other prospects to see what would get this done.

Those were two resounding answers. I kind of got a little blinded by rectifying an old trade where I gave Hintz away for peanuts and I'm also a big Holloway fan, but Zegras is special.

What constitutes a fair trade for Zegras at this point?

No to that deal. You only deal Zegras if it is a huge win for you. He’s one of the top young stars in the game today so if you deal him you better improve a lot. Don’t settle for just anything, wait for an overpayment. If it doesn’t come then you keep him and move on.

I'm a huge fan of Hintz but I wouldn't give up Zegras for this - he just has too much potential

Glass and Samoskovich haven't amounted to anything, so it's Hintz for Zegras and that's a hard pass. Let them come to you with a good offer, rather than you setting the price.

I'll be honest, I don't know a ton about Samoskevich, other than him being a late first round pick, he's got some skill, pNHLe projects a second line player, and Dobber Pospects gives him a 75pt fantasy upside. But barring something unexpected, he seems to be a mid-level fantasy prospect at best.

Glass, on the other hand, has better pedigree, but he has disappointed so far in his career. Can he turn it around? Absolutely. But I think his trade value is pretty low right now, and the OGM is trying to salvage some value.

So this really works out to a trade of Hintz for Zegras, and that's a hard no for me. To move Zegras you need either a top tier established player, or a can't miss prospect, or some other benefit. And Hintz isn't quite that. He's a good player, but Robertson is the real star on that line/team.

I'd want better secondary options with Hintz before I'd even consider this. That or a better player than Hintz with those secondary assets. Either way, this trade isn't something I'd entertain.

i think Hintz needs to be a secondary piece before you consider it...but i would not even consider it atm. Give Zegras another year or 2...then your return is much higher imo

Hell no. Zegras is going to be a 100 point guy before all is said and done. I’d need an elite upside prospect added to Hintz before I gave it any thought. Zegras is special. Hang on to him for dear life.
