Yeah obvious choices are Jets and Flyers...

but I would not rule out Detroit making a run for him...they are up and coming team and Stevie Y indicated a need to be better defensively in his end of season presser.

So I would think he'll land in one of Winnipeg, Philadelphia or Detroit. Lets not forget Boudreau in Vancouver is not a lock to return, so that could be in play too.

I am sure many GM's scambling around tonight shocked he was fired and now back tracking on " Hey, Lets talk to Trotz"

Detroit has too many good young forwards to hire Trotz. He would ruin their future as good offensive players. Flyers don't have enough veterans either. Winnipeg has mature gifted forwards so that might work. How about Florida? Tons of mature gifted forwards who could us some discipline and structure. Trotz can't go to a team that needs to develop forwards as he hasn't been able to do that ever.

I heard here and there that he doesn't want to coach anymore and would be more interested in an executive role. Any validity to that?

    Maybe...

But I think Andrew Brunette has solidified his spot with the Panthers long-term.

Trotz is in high demand, he’ll be able to pick where he wants to coach, if he wants to coach at all.

I think the Jets are the front runners with him being from that area.

I think Trotz could be a good fit with the Jets, assuming he wants to dive right back into coaching. They've got some talented and motivated vets who have had some individual success, but are frustrated by a lack of team results. I think they would buy into a defensive team-first approach if they started seeing results in the standings. And a strong defensive system built around Hellebuyck would make them a tough team to beat.

If he wants a job, he'll get a job.

He should avoid the train wreck that is the Flyers, if he thinks Lou L overvalues veteran grittiness, Fletcher is worse.

5 more years of Ristolainen - what could possibly go wrong?

How about Vegas? They may be in need of a new coach soon.

I think the bigger question is what's going on with Mitch Korn. Is he staying in NY or is he going with Trotz to his next destination?

What a bad firing. Your team had like a 13 game road start to the season because of the arena build, he took a highly under skilled team to the conference finals in b2b yrs, then has this yr and you fire him? Bad move by Lou. He's firing his coach because he couldn't make Pageau look better? Like the rosters top paid forwards are Anders Lee (7m, 4more yrs, 31yrs old), Barzal (7m, 1RFA yr, 24yrs old), Nelson (6m, 3more yrs, 30yrs old), Palmieri (5m, 3more yrs, 31yrs old), Pageau (5m, 4more yrs, 29yrs old), Bailey (5m, 2more yrs, 32yrs old.

This team is built to only succeed under a Trotz system, and they don't have the prospects to fill the offensive roles (Raty better be good). This is Lou protecting his own butt by firing one of the bullets in the GM chamber. I don't know how attractive of a situation NYI is for a new coach as well if you have other options.

I guess this decreases the chances of Lane Lambert ending up in Detroit....
