Burakovsky or Nichushkin?

I’m basically out of the running in my league and looking at my keeper situation (league 2 in sig: 12 teams, keep 20).

I pretty much have everything decided, except a choice between Burakovsky and Nichushkin.

I thought it was a no brainer to keep Burakovsky over Nichushkin…but is it?

Roto league that counts goals, assists, plus/minus, PPP, SHP, GWG, shots, hits

Currently:

Nichushkin ranked 88th. 37 points in 46 games (0.8 PPG)

Burakovsky ranked 137th. 46 points in 62 games (0.74 PPG)

Nichushkin is also averaging more shots and hits per game.

I’m trying to figure out if we’re seeing a breakout of Nichushkin as a solid multi-cat option moving forward, or if I’m better off sticking with Burakovsky?

This yeas it’s Nuke & long term it’s probably Burakovsky.

Bura’s had more seasons of consistent production whereas Nuke, this is his only real true breakout (funny enough playing with Bura) & now he’s gifted top line duties to see out the yr with Landeskog out. On a contract year too, his career totals seem to show this is an anomaly while just happening to be on the best team in the league as it happens.

…& now that I think of it, long term whoever stays in Colorado is probably the better pick. And we obviously won’t know who that is until the summer. Maybe the Avs retain none of them? In which case, I’d lean Bura cuz he’s more of a top6 than Nuke is (seems to be a complimentary winger and in a great situation rn).

Burakovsky is the safe pick here I think. However, if Nich is finally finding his way, the risk of keeping him will lead to reward as he has the potential to be a serious own in a multi cat format like yours. Nich has teased and disappointed us for years, so beware, but as I said, perhaps he has finally figured it out and is the better own in your format. Tough choice, all depends on your appetite for taking a chance (:

I think you'll have to wait for this summer to see how things play out...
Both players are UFAs and I'd be surprised if they both stayed in Colorado.
That will be a big deciding factor. Lots of moving parts over there and MacKinnon needs a new contract after next season.

I do think that Colorado would like to sign both of them back, but Nichushkin will be the one that is most likely to return.

Whoever decides to take a pay cut and stay in Colorado would be my choice. If they both stay, Nuke is the route to take.
